I'd say base it on age, but that's probably b/c I'm old enough to legally drink. I don't advocate minors drinking, don't get me wrong...but if you are going to do it....just remember that moderation is the key. If you are going to drink, don't lose control. Drink enough that you're feeling good and stop. Don't feel the need to drink as much as your friends or whatever. Getting totally wasted is when kids make biiig mistakes. Never get to the point where you lose control of your own good judgement. The best thing would be to just wait....you have your whole life to drink after you hit the legal age.

8th grade huh. It's almost inevitable that you're going to get stupidly retarded drunk at some point before you finish high school. Try to avoid it. Whenever you get extremely drunk, you become permanently dumber 'cuz of the loss of brain cells (and you risk alcohol poisoning). You cannot reverse this (hence the word permanent). A little bit of drink isn't too bad, some europeans start drinking at like 12. The main difference is, they drink with meals and they only have a little bit. They don't drink to get drunk.

My advice to you is my own rule of thumb, when you can't remember exactly how many drinks you had and exactly what they were (i.e. when you're not sure if it was 4 or 5 drinks), it's time to slow down or stop.

Alternating between a glass of drink and a glass of water will help guard against hangovers. Eating before drinking helps improve your tolerance and helps keep you from puking (especially bread). Always drink water before going to sleep (once again, hangover avoidance). Personally I think you're too young to be drinking without your parents, but you are old enough to make your own decisions so long as you understand and accept the potential consequenses.

Save your brain cells for your school years. There are very good reasons for the drinking age to be 21.

Well i am in 8 grade too and in 7 grade i was involved with drinking and drugs. Trust me you don't wanna drink ! A little is okay when your older but don't let it be your life. Base it on your age as well. I didn't base it on my age in 7 grade and i regret it!
