You never know....

2006-08-10 21:06:34 · 18 answers · asked by EasterBunny 5 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

I will say this much as a hint to my true beliefs.I was raised by choice, not force, as a Baptist Christian.I was anti everything at one time. But I was also a closeted homosexual and when I discovered what my church' view on that was I tried to seek Christ' intervention. It never came and so I left the church after much struggle.Today I embrace a faith.I do!I just also embrace reason, humanity, logic, and humor. And so, my mission is to make people think. But I won't say if I am a Christian because if I said I was I would have to give up my mischief and if I wasn't I would have to admit that I really don't believe in anything when asking this question. So, I leave it to you to answer.Would you be surprised if I was a Christian.A liberal, open minded, gay, non-Bible thumping Christian?

Stop it. Do not do that to me. I have grown accustomed to not liking you.

You are like one of my archnemeses. I, of course, mean that in a friendly way.

that's an exciting question...in no way theory approximately it that way. properly, you may tell God which you probably did not know they have been angels in cover =) lol. I dunno, i think of i could in simple terms admit that i'm a sinner. I in simple terms met somebody in my classification and we talk a lot. he's an extremely cool guy, yet he's athiest and he's often conversing approximately it, putting his perspectives accessible, and that i in no way say something by using fact i'm Christian. till now each and every thing it may trojan horse me a lot whilst he'd commence conversing approximately that, and that i could experience rather uncomfortable listening, and that i do exactly not say something. at present, however, i discover myself thinking, what if he's superb suited? he's very convincing...i will not be able to describe it, yet i've got been thinking approximately this a lot at present, and that i hate thinking that, so it rather is bugging me.

well not really bcuz many athiest don't realise how much of christian (or muslim or hindu or whatever) culture and values they have in them... simply by being born and raised in predomenantly christian (or muslim, or hindu, or whatever!!) cultures does shape in part ur spirituality. Now if u choose not to believe in God... thats fine but u can never forget where you and your "people" come from.

For example many athiests celebrate christmas which in christain cultures is the annual day to celebrate family (ur celebrating the birth of a child which is a worldwide symbol for family). And those athiest who celebrate christmas do it with relatives... do you see what i mean?

Ur society inevitably shapes ur spirituality... and even if u dont believe in God it doesn't mean that religous values and cultures don't affect you in anyway.

Yes and I could be a Atheist disguised as a disgruntled Christian.

What's a "disgruntled atheist"? I've never met one. I guess I'm one...although I'm more of a pure anti-religionist.

Well, nothing would surprise me at all actually.

But I'd have to say that to wear a false façade for 161 questions and 522 answers would seem highly obsessive to me...
