A friend and I are wanting to do an Operation Christmas project for the town of Pearlington, Mississippi. And for those of you who dont know, Pearlington was in the eye of Hurricane katrine the second wave! So please give me some ideas!!

first of all you have to be a non profit agency, if you are not, visit some churches in your area and ask them to sponsor you, giving them a portion of work together.
services or ideas you can do to obtain funds,
car washes, cake walk, get a store to donate a gift and sales tickets for drawing, bake cookies and sell at a fiar, or make handmade items and sale, when you do this be sure to tell people who the funds are going to [get friends and family to help you] and be sure to be legit, gathering funds and not giving to the needy is against the law, that is why i suggested church being involved, they have non profit status and can assist in many ways. good luck

Garage/Tag/Yard sales...ask people for donations of items they don't want or need anymore. Also, put jars or cans in local stores. Make them eye-catching and add a note about the cause (pictures say a thousand words!) Put it by the checkout...people are already in their wallets!) Good luck

do a simple twice monthly raffle with maybe 5 prizes consisting of food, drinks bottle of wine, preferably donated by generous individuals which you sell for a few dollars a ticket for family, friends and work colleagues, keep it small to keep the logistics of organising simple,
a walkathon/sponsored walk is good to, very minimal work for a maximum payout....
