I did volunteer work at a library for 2 months, shelving and sorting books and it was deadly boring.

Then volunteer for a cause you support or feel strongly about. If you believe in what you're doing, you won't be bored.

...who are fighting a greedy company who wants to bulldoze a CA State Park to build an un-needed, private, pay-to-drive toll road which would destroy the park, destroy the campground in the park, cause more traffic, promote urban sprawl, and pollute San Mateo creek which flows to a nearby beach called Trestles, which is one of the finest surfing spots in North America. Since it pisses me off that some greedy business executives want to ruin my state just so they can get rich, I love volunteering. I know I'm doing the right thing and helping a good cause.

Yep, years ago with Friends of the Everglades. Started out just doing waterway cleanups and the like, but then I got to start doing wildlife presentations at libraries and schools and in Everglades National Park and handling all kinds of local wildlife from indigo snakes and armadillos to hawks, bobcats and Florida panthers. THAT was great.

I voulenteered for The American Red Cross at the Ft.Lewis,WA Vet Detachment. I had a blast doing it.

I volunteerd @ nursing homes & found it 2 be HELLA funny 2 get cursed out by the old people.

,Please check into helping with MR/DD "mentally retarded/ developmentally disabled" I've worked with them for over 20 years, If you like crooked smiles, lots of hugs and going home feeling good about yourself, then check at your local school, hospital or church for a special ed group.Then give as much time as you can.
