But it is a lot easier to increase the production of raw material for biodiesel than finding more oil.

Supply for the vegetable produce needed in europe could easily meet the demand (in many euroean countries there is land that is subsidised to not be farmed to avoid the grain mountains that were observed in the early 90s), but the technology is energy intensive and more costly, which may effect the price. I don't think it should be considered as good or bad, but as which is the better option, or the lesser of two evils. Biodiesel is a renewable resource and a good intermediary until we find out how to harness hydrogen power, and it is for that reason that it is a viable option. Even when we put aside the environmental arguments there are good reasons for us to shift away frol fossil fuels (avoiding the economic uncertainty of price shifts from OPEC for one).

I agree that the current sources of material to make biodiesel will not support widespread production without totally disrupting the market, but it will be the high cost of making the fuel and not the high cost of food that will limit the amount we can make.

As long as fast food restaurants are around. Ronald McDonald created Biodiesel and said it was good. Good for Business that is.

It is good if you can get it.....
It originates in the kitchens of the fast food restaurants, the left over frying oils. Even with the oversized freedom fries that we are consuming there is no way to supply the fuel demands in our country....
Not bio diesel, not corn ethanol...
