If the majority of the Islamic faith is a peace loving religion, and those being labeled by the west as 'terrorists' are not faithful Muslims but mis-using the term 'jihad' to promote violence, why doesn't the peaceful Muslim community speak out against those that are giving their religion such a bad reputation? Even better, why won't the peace loving majority take action(s) against the hijacking minority?

My brother, I have personally have written many articles and said things against terrorists but does anyone even reads?
If a nutcase claims that he is doing Allah's work by killing innocents then he becomes a headline news but if there are 2000 fatwa against terrorism, they don't even make it to the news, let alone the headline.
A 5 minute of Google can show you that each and every community of Islam had issued statements against terrorism.
Yes, I agree that there are few bad apples in my community but who doesn't?
Use some common sense.

i am a muslim and our mosque and imam (muslim preacher) have spoke out against it at the mosque and we have held rallyies in front of the saudi embassy which is where most of the extremist are from as many imams around the world do but it is impossible to get the media to interview any muslim that speaks out against terrorism they the media is more interested in the few gun carring extremist so the cycle continues and people like you continue to condem us when all you have to do is on any given friday you can go to your local mosque and see what the imam and the muslims are saying and what they are supporting
one other point 1/4 of the worlds population is muslim and 100 million chinese muslims live in china alone if we were all violent extremeist don't you think more damage would have been done by now if we are all crazy savage people? think about it

I don't know how you see things but let me tell you that Muslims are very angry from the west because of the following points:
Colonization of Muslim countries for decades and killing millions of innocent Muslims (France alone killed 1.5 million in Algeria)
After Muslims fought for their freedom and paid heavy prices the west did a very dirty trick by withdrawing troops but implementing dictators loyal to the west rather than their own people as happened in all Muslim countries and Egypt and Pakistan are just an example.
They stole Palestine from its original people and established a cancer state that is killing Muslims around the clock for than more than fifty years.
America an Israel are steeling Muslim’s oil and pay just low prices for it, do you believe that people in Saudi Arabia are poor and needy and their leaders keep billions of dollars in their bank accounts. Did you know that if Saudi Arabia stop supplying oil to America and Israel all the tanks and jets that are killing innocent Muslims will stop working but those cowards and illegal rulers don't care for Islam and Muslims but care for the love of Bush and Blair.
Do you think after that if few number of Muslims become terrorists then all Muslims should apologize and move and against whom? Why you folks in the west don't move against your criminal governments and troops who are more than barbarians? Because they ARE peace loving. Like true peace loving Christians and Jews, they avoid conflict like the plague! They will release statements to be read on air, but actually taking action is beyond them.

After looking at some other answers here it seems to me that Muslims are constantly speaking out against terrorism, especially the terrorism that is inflicted on them in far greater amounts than they inflict on us. for example, there is a 911 sized death toll every month in Iraq since the American/UK invasion.
Iraq had NOTHING to do with 911!!!!
Likewise in Palestine, many terrorist deaths, many innocent lives lost.
Perhaps it is because muslims constantly speak out against this form of terrorism and are ignored, vetoed and told to shut up that a tiny minority of them turn to terrorism as a way to be heard.

Because muslims are single minded. The so-called "peace loving" muslims may not be on the front lines fighting jihad, but you can bet they are sympathetic towards their more militant brethren. Actions speak louder than words.
