There is this company called "Aveeva" in California. They say they will offer me a position and help me to apply working visa (I'm not a citizen but with legal status) , but first I need to pay $2,500 for the H1 visa application.

Here is my concern: 1. this company specifically looking for people need H1 visa means all applicants will pay application fee first. That's a lot of money and will be a good reason lead to a fraud. 2. The company located in California, I'm in Connecticut. I couldn't physically go there to check if there is this company.

I chcked their website, couldn't tell if they're fraud. Checked the company stock, not a stock trading company.

Question: Is there any way I can find out this company is actully exist and is not a fraud company?

Contact the Better Business Bureau. See if they have any negative reports on the business.

They also approached me also. With the same offer. They did say the 2500 was refundable. They do it as a security so that you dont get taken by another firm and then they lose you and they money they invest in transferring or filing the visa too.

However I doubt that they are a fraud because I found their job posting on my school website and if they were a fraud they would be risking a lot coming on the school website. I am still thinking about their offer. Please let me know what happens when you do make a decision.

"but first I need to pay $2,500 for the H1 visa application. "
Visas...working or otherwise are issued by a Countries embassy.
If anyone is offering you a job provided you them for a visa then is is a scam.
If you have a website, orheader information from their emails I might be able to tell you a lot more.
You can also go to www.fraudwatchers.org This is a common scam and they have seen it before.

best is to go to the website of the state's trades and securities or whatever federal agency there is that has a list of registered companies. I've heard of Aveeva and I think they are legit but this is the first time I've heard of companies asking for visa payments considering you're in the States too. Maybe clarify it with their HR Department and tell them you're in the States as well and you don't need a visa to get there.... maybe a plane ticket will do hahahaha..... Good luck.

I googled it. If it is a fraud, they are going to a lot of trouble.

The other respondent's Chamber of Commerce suggestion seemed like a good idea, but they don't know about my business, and my DBA is on file with the Clerk's office in El Dorado County, so go figure.
