I know someone who want to enlist(not me) but he is a high school drop out he been to jail in his criminal records will show he has been in trouble with the police (felonys). He has no diploma or ged. What are his chances in ever entering the military? He want to join the MARINES. let me make you a small profile about him.

He has no diploma or GED.
He has been to jail for drugs and i think robbery.
He is untrust worthy.
He has been caught in a school a doesnt to to with marijuana.
He doesnt know how to do MATH.
and i learned to serve in the military you have to be smart.
He has worked in four jobs and he quitted.
wouldnt that mean he cant handle in being in the marines or any service?
And he is joing the marines cause he cant handle hard work.
What are his chances in even making it in the marines or any service.

And if he was to lie to a recruiter before he goes to the MEPs about his criminal records what will happen to him.

(not me) its about someone i know

Your friend is not getting in.

He can lie all he wants about his criminal record. The recruiter is going to check and it will come up. IF and that's a big IF he somehow makes it to MEPs and they find out there all they will say is thanks for your time but you can't join. The Recruiter will probably get an earful for wasting not only the MEPs time but the recruiters time as well. IF and this is an even bigger IF he some how makes it to basic, as long as he never tries to get a clearance and is actually not a problem he should be able to finish his enlistment. If it does come up then quite possibly he will be discharged for false enlistment. At that point it becomes a case by case situation. Now this is all just for the felony. We haven't even talked about the no diploma/GED, unable to do Math (which probably means he won't score high enough on the ASFAB to get in) and that only the most desperate recruiter is going to try to get someone in that would quite possible end up getting kick out before making through basic (don't make it through basic the recruiter doesn't get credit for that soldier). Each one of these things is a stopper in itself.

My bet is he is just talk. Dare him to go talk to a recruiter, any recruiter and see what happens. It will probably end those dreams in about ten minutes, thirty if he trys a couple branches.

Army is better for this guy, but I don't know about the felony thing.
He may need his GED first. If he doesn't like to work he may be unincourageble, but if anyone can get his *** on the move it would be the Army or the Marines.
This is a better question for a recruiter. Go down and enquire at the recruiting office.

He has no chance at all of getting in. If he lies, they will find out. I mean this is the government we're talking about. They can find out anything. If he can't handle hard work, then the military is not for him, especially the marines.

The military checks all that out before they go in. With a felony, there is NO way they will let him in.
Not any of the branches of military are taking felonys these days.

the marines will not take u without the ged or high school diploma and the arrest record.and being in the marines is hard work..basic training will kill him alone.

they offer waviers for a lot of stuff but felonies..i don't know. i think the army has a program to help you get a ged before entering..he has to take the asvab and depending on his score it will determine what kinda of mos he can take...i'm not sure the military is the right place for this guy

Believe it or not, the "untrustworthy" part is of the most concern.

I'm not in the military, but I KNOW (without a doubt) they do not want someone who is untrustworthy. That can be a hazard.

Best of luck to your friend. I don't think the military will take him.

A recruiters not even going to waste his time on this guy. No armed services would touch him. He wouldn't even be allowed to pump gas. (Or JP8)
