This is a hard one, I would read the message as it sounds, and leave it at that, obviously someone has taken the time to send the message meaning they have given it alot of thought on how they can express their feeling towards you without being cruel. It also sounds like this person really cares for you, but there are other circumstances, that need to be considered, like, they are married, or engaged, or you are married or engaged or something along those lines, that this person has searched their mind and realised what you two are doing is wrong even if he/she does care alot. I am also getting the feeling that this msg is maybe a plot, ie, to arouse your awareness of their feelings, or to make you chase them. Maybe just leave the situation for awhile and think, and see if he/she sends any more msg's, then I would investigate what is going on. Good Luck

If I cared, I would consider the reasons for the decision this person made and make some effort to speak with him or her in person to determine if there could be a way to save the friendship. If I didn't care, I would simply accept the decision he or she made and move on.

if i receive that kind of message, first thing that would enter my mind is, our relationship is in trouble. there must be something that is bugging his mind so he is saying that. the next best thing i would do is ask him the reasons... why he should forget about me.

Difficult to answer w/o knowing the circumstances. Taken at face value, and would honor his/her request. I would let him/her go and move on. New friends, new activities, advance to new ambitions.
