My husband and I were in New Mexico and we ordered enchiladas. The waitress asked if we wanted red or green sauce. We had never eaten that before, and being from Texas, we were accustomed to Tex Mex food. Well, the sauce was so hot we had to leave the food on the table. We had to go buy Aloe Vera juice, alka seltzer, and mylanta, to finally stop the burning and keep us from throwing up. It was really bad.

My mother's boyfriend at the time was Mayan Indian from Mexico, well he made some chili (salsa) with habenero chili's in it. It was so hot that my mom felt it burning inside her stomach. It wasn't good. She said it took the wind out of her lungs and each breathe of air fanned heat in her esophagus. All you can do is wait for it to end.

I was just in Brazil and they have this sort of chili garnish that I never quite figured out what they put it on. I tasted it once and my friend said that my face turned red like in the cartoons (like a thermometer) and then I just started sweating. It hurt so bad.
