Sometimes there is stress going on in the lives of people close to you, say within your immediate or extended family unit - and the feelings of stress might interfere with prayer on occasion. That has happened to me before. So the next thing to do is to start praying for family members as well, and see if that helps. Sometimes Satan sends particularly discouraging spirits to try to stop people from praying, also. Then you need to keep praying and call on the name of Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ to keep temptation from you. Yet another possibility is that there may possibly be an unresolved issue you need to ponder about before peace will come. It may or may not be an oversight or a sin or transgression of some kind. Yet another possibility is that you are receiving a warning of some kind, or some strong instruction of some kind, and you need to keep listening to see if you get more details about what needs to be done. Have a happy day.

If you're praying for something and are worried about it, you will not feel that peaceful feeling. You'll just keep thinking about your problem. If you're just saying one quick prayer, you're not going to get that peaceful feeling either.

You have to clear your mind, and focus on God. Let all your concerns flow away like water. In other words, try it with a little meditation. You have to work at it I'm afraid. You might like to sing or think about a favorite hymn. That could be uplifting and singing is a form of prayer also.

Talking to God should be an intimate conversation between you and your Holy Creator. If you aren't feeling peace or silence within, then tell God about it. Ask Him to help you gain a sense of peace from your prayers.
Shalom

I don't think God ever said that we should feel peace and silence when we pray....

Get into a quiet place...maybe a closet. and pray there.

When you pray follow the example that Jesus gave us, if you dont feel a sense of peace keep on praying.

Matthew 6
Jesus’ teaching on prayer
5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. AMEN
