Whole milk 3-4% fat which is 8g fat per 8 oz.
2% about 5 g fat per 8 oz.
1% about 3 g fat per 8 oz.
Skim about 0.5 g fat per 8 oz.
The changes in percentages only represent fat. There is no change in vitamin and mineral content. Anyone over the age of 2 should be drinking skim milk.

It's milk that is processed to cut down the fat from the naturally occurring level of about 4% to 1%. Skim milk is completely fat free. Both are good if you are trying to cut down on fat; ask your doctor if she or he think 1% or skim makes much difference for you.

Look again at the label. It does not say 1% and "fat free"
It's either 1% *low fat*
or it's fat free/skim
For cholesterol, avoid dairy milk and look into rice milk.

1% milk has just a little bit of fat left in it unlike non-fat milk which has none. If your cholesterol is high, it's better to stick to the yucky non fat milk.
