Here it is- it has worked for my 2 kids, and others after I tell them........

1. get m and m's handy
2. get a small potty chair
3. get a couple books about potty
4. you need to be home for about 4-5 days straight
5. now you can start. let them run around bare-but
6. Set the timer for 1/2 hour. Tell him/her to sit on the potty for 5 min. (read them a book in the mean time if it's to long for them.) If they go, give lots and lots of praise!!! I mean go crazy!! Give them about 3 m and m's.
7. Set the timer for 1/2 hour
8. Avoid asking the question "you got to go potty?'
9. Timer goes off- ok! What does that mean junior? Time to go potty again he or she would say, or you say it if they don't
10. repeat process all day long. If they go # 2 in the potty, reward with a handful of m and m's. They are very colorful and kids love them!!

11. Praise praise praise. I do spank my kids for behavior problems such as lying, disobedience, and bad attitudes, but never for having an accident. If there is an accident, clean it up queitly, and don't say much at all. Remind them it's ok, but try to make it in the potty next time, or in your own words.

Good luck!!! Hope this helps you. My girl was potty-trained in two days with the method. Took my 2 1/2 year old son a week. Leave pull-ups on them at night just in case.
p.s. if this doen't work at all, try again in a few months.

I'm a mother of three ages 10, 6 & 3+1/2. Ive never understood the fuss with potty training or even why its called training! I'm sure you wouldn't ask when to start walking or talking training! Every mother I know stresses about this one little thing that kids will learn (just like everything else) when they are ready. Some are fully trained at 2 others 4! so just be patient and follow the lead from your child. They wont be in nappys on their 21st!! One of mine was 18months one was 2+1/2 youngest was 3?? Just make it like every other thing they learn... fun and show them how to do it!!

1 1/2 year old is early (i think). i heard that if you start too early, the process will only take longer because the child is not ready.

if the child shows interests....then sit the child at the toilet seat every thirty minutes. every once in a while they will pee...and when they do...you need to praise them like there is not tomorrow. they'll start get excited about the whole concept. the key word in consistency. you need to do this for at least two days...then go for every hour ...the rest of the week.

if your child shows no care or interest...you're better off waiting. it will save you time and stress. in the meanwhile though, everytime you go to the bathroom ...take the child...it will give them a head start. the child will observe and learn the concept of the potty.

1 1/2 is too young to start potty training. My daughter is 15 months and the doctor said to not even try until 2 years. they don't have the mental capacity yet to understand that they have to hold it. they don't even understand what pee and poo is yet. wait until 2 years then start introducing them to the toilet. try a sticker chart. every time he/ she goes in the potty, they get a sticker on there chart.

Good luck

if she/he is showing interest in the potty then introduce them but do not force anything to happen. this does seem a little young but if they are showing interest then just get a potty and introduce him or her to it but like i said before dont force anything to happen he/she will start when they are ready.

i think 11/2 is a little too early ,you need to wait till they show that they are ready ,at least 21/2 you re looking at major problems for yourself. i wouldn't do it because you think they've just got to..just wait a while ..

You start when the child starts showing an interest, not because you're tired of doing diaper duty.
