Monster or Acoustic Research HDMI cable?

Buying a cheap, low end Monster cable, ie. Ultra 400, vs buying a high end AR cable, ie. PR185
Both provide exceptional quality, is monster really worth paying double for?

Absolutely NOT! You will just get ripped off. Check out the article below from c|Net on the cheap vs expensive cables.

No...I represented MIT and Phoenix Gold for years. Unless you are into the really esoteric stuff the big names basically charge you for the marketing expenses.
