Why are do and grow spelled "doo" or "gro" on black hair products? Are these companies trying to make fun of black people?

Don't be defensive it's just their trademark. You know how we do in cyberspace with bf for boyfriend or brb for be right back, it's just what they do in their industry. But if you are not in their industry and don't understand their terminology then it might offend you. Just try to open your mind a little. These companies wouldn't try to make fun of the race they are trying to target, believe me, without us there would be no them. They need our business to stay in business. And I've never read the ingredients, they may have taken the "doo" from one of their ingredients to try and jazz it up a bit. Just call the customer complaint and comment 1-800 number on the product and ask how did they come up with the name for the product because some people you know were offended because they didn't understand the meaning........... Let us know.............But there are some brands used by caucasion people with funny names as well...........

I don't know, I never noticed it. I am a white woman with long, coarse, pain in the a$$ hair, and I buy products intended for women of color. One, because they work great, and two, they're a quarter of the price. A spit-in-a-bottle Paul Mitchell or Bedhead shine stuff is $20, while a large (same stuff!) bottles for black hair is about $5 bucks. So, who're the dummies?

No, I actually have synesthesia, so the association of letters has a particular colour scheme. the in straightforward words time I misspell is when I form too quickly or I listen a word too many times and performance an urge to spell it like it sounds.

The companies are basically painting blacks all with the same brush. "Well blacks only speak slang/ebonics so lets use it on our products to attract them."

I doubt that someone would insult their target customer with the product they were trying to sell him/her.
