Problems with Yahoo Messenger?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling sveral times. Everytime I try to open YM it opens for a second and then just closes down completely... why is it doing this and is anyone else experiencing this?? I have cleared cookies and cleaned my whole comp... HELP!

the firewall might be blocking also try to download the latedst version from yahoo version 8 and check the firewall
