It could be a virus or an allergy. Usually the virus comes on fast and furious, then after about 4 days symptoms get a bit better and then gone after 10-14 days. With an allergy the symptoms may come and go and stay much longer. Right now it is ragweed season. During Christmas most pollens are gone - but you could be allergic to the Christmas tree or the dust from getting all the decorations out of the closet! And end of school year - late spring is prime time for grass and flower pollen. Early spring is prime time for tree pollen. But then again, there are certain cold viruses that appear and different times of year also.

Yes it is. I have had allergies all my life. That is about the same time every year I get sick. Seven years ago I moved and had to find a new Dr. It was about 2 weeks before Christmas and told the Dr. I need Allegra and he stated it was not allergies and gave me 2 prescriptions. After they did not work, I finally talked him into a script for Allegra and WA LA I got better. So Take allergies medication and if over the counter does not work ask your Dr for a prescription for allergy meds. Good luck

This does kinda sound like allergy but also like the common cold. Ecanachia, chicken soup, and orange juice will make it quicker. Any simple antihisitmine will help with the runny nose.
Sore throat is not an allergy symptom which is why I am leaning toward common colds. Take heart....the older you get the fewer colds you will get!

It sounds like you get sick during times of more stress. The stress of Christmas makes me sick. Near the end of school you are burned out from all the work and having to be there all the time (I got burned out after all the studying, tests, etc.), now you are preparing to start school (I assume) and that is stressful. Your immune system probably weakens during these times.

maybe - it would be wise to visit an allergist and get a few tests done if you are horribly sick during those 2 times a year!
