No exact number. All i know is unless you suppliment your diet with other things in order to make up for the things you lose with not eating meat, youll become very unhealthy. Vegan means no meat or byproducts of animals... eggs cheese that sorta thing. Its a step beyond the basic vegetarian.

Vegan is someone who not only avoids all meat products and byproducts (milks, eggs, cheeses), but they also avoid using animal products (natural fiber string is often horse hair, anything leather).
and how much weight will you lose? Not much at all. I am assuming you are not going from 3 buckets of kfc a day to vegan, but rather some healthy eating style to vegan. Veganism, like vegetarianism, doesn't really offer any fewer calories than regular diet. You will, obviously, take cholesterol almost out of the equation, as it is found primarily in meat. You will not lose weight by becoming a vegan, its the same nutrients and caloric intake, just different sources.

You've got it all wrong. IN order to lose weight in a healthy manner, you must eat proteins, which you can get in meat, nuts, beans, etc... A vegetarian refrains from eating any meat, but occasionally they have seafood because they find it justifiable. Veagans on the other hand, do not eat any animal related products because they believe that it is cruel and inhuman. SO unless you plan to give up meat, eggs, milk, yougurt, and a variety of other things, you may want to try just becoming a vegetarian first. here's a vegan website that might have interest to you:http://library.thinkquest.org/20922/what_eat.htm
And about the losing weight part... You will probably lose a lot of weight if you normally eat fried meats, but otherwise you'll probably just become leaner and healthier.

i didn't lose any, in two years, but i was not a particularly healthy eater (though strictly vegan). big on tofutti, i was. veganism is a strict form of vegetarianism that, ahem, forbids the use of ALL animal products (leather, honey, milk, eggs, wool...).
FREQUENTLY ASKED TOFUTTI QUESTION
9. Are all Tofutti products vegan?
No, not all of our products are totally vegan. Although all of our frozen dessert and cheese (except smoked salmon Better Than Cream Cheese) products are completely vegan, all of our frozen food entrees (except our Pizza Pizzaz) and all four of our cookies do contain egg whites. Of course, every product that uses egg whites will have it clearly listed in the ingredients. We never use whole eggs, as we are always cholesterol free.
even now, i check, as you see, though i'm back to ovo-lacto, somewhat reluctantly, and that hasn't lost me any weight, either, more's the pity.
(p.s. REAL vegetarians - you'll hear a lot of this - do NOT eat fish)

People who plan their weekly meals will be more successful at losing weight than people that don’t. Plan your dishes to add healthy carbs such as special potato and wholegrain pasta, green vegetables and lean proteins, buy every one of the ingredients in advance and don’t be tempted to nibble on out or order in.

Use spray oil as opposed to pouring. One squirt contains just one calorie compared to 120 calories from a tablespoon. If you use oil within your cooking daily, this small change could lose that you simply stone over the year.

Cold showers: They not only burn 500 extra calories daily, studies from The New England Journal of Medicine cite that the icy water also activates ‘brown fat’ – the favorable type of body fat of which creates body heat, increases metabolism and burns off naughty white-colored fat.
