Have you ever noticed that in any type of boxing, MMA, martial arts match, etc, the clock always disappears when there is about 5 seconds remaining?

A lot of times, it's because the time being broadcasted isn't sync'ed up with the official time. It looks better when they take it off a little early rather than have the bell ring at a different time than what the clock says.

I don't think there's a definite reason. I guess they figure it to be unnecessary to continue it's duration.
