Compare with today's WHAT? You need to clarify what are you comparing the original Hebrew version with. The Hebrew text of the Bible (OT) is still with us, and it is also translated into English in the various translations you find. These translations are faithful to the Hebrew text and all says that God made everything in 6 days and rested on the seventh.

Many translators take translating the bible very seriously so that we many have an accurate translation in our language.
Some have gone to great effort to restore God's name in all of it's proper places so that we are not confused as to who is doing the talking. Psalms 83:18
Removing the Divine name shows a lack of respect for it.
How would you like it if you wrote a book that would save lives and someone removed your name so that an inferior person could mistakenly get the credit for your work?
By restoring the Divine name Jehovah, it sinks those truths deeper into our hearts and gives them more meaning to us.

Mostely it is that it contains the passages on the CREATOR OF ALL THINGS. Creating its self out of the chaos that was there before then and creating order from the chaos. Then Spining off sparks of ITS SELF that became the souls of ALL THAT WAS AND WILL BE . That includes good and evil, time, lght and dark. And the rebellion in Heaven when ST. LUCIFER thought that He could run Creation better than THE CREATOR could. This is still before the creation of the Physical universe. after that the Torah and the Christian bible are pretty much in agreement in Genesis.
