I can never sleep. Tonight it's because of caffeine, but usually, I'm just a weirdo. Sleeping pills are out of the question (well I guess they're out of the answer, but you know what I mean...) What can I do?

The thing is...I just don't really ever get tired. I could go a couple of days without sleeping and not feel tired at all. Well, that's pretty much what I do, but my parents always flip out when they come out of their room and I'm on Yahoo Answers for some crap like that. How can I get into a "normal" sleeping pattern when I have no desire/need for sleep?

Oh, one more thing...I think I have like an overactive bladder or something because I bought a cd with all the ocean noises on it and junk and I just had to pee a billion times a minute. I'm not exaggerating at all.

THAT'S IT!!! I REALIZED WHY I CAN'T SLEEP! It's because I'm never satisfied with what I've done that day... hmmmm, still don't know how to fix this tho. I'm annoying. I want graham crackers. Bye.

You can try several things. I am also an insomniac, but have learned how to get some quality sleep so that I can function properly at work. These steps work effectively for me.
1.) No caffeine after 7pm.
2.) No "weird" spicy food within a couple of hours of going to bed.
3.) Maintain a semi-regular bedtime. Try to get to bed within an hour of the same time each night.
4.) An hour or so before bed, eat something like a turkey sandwich with a glass of milk. Carbs (in the bread) and turkey and milk are some foods proven to induce sleepiness.
5.) Maintain a bedtime routine. Mine is a shower, brush the teeth, pajamas, put a glass of water on my nightstand and read for 20 minutes in bed, with low light.
6.) Make your room as dark as possible, put up blinds which block out any outside source of light. Wear a sleep mask if necessary.
7.) Some scents help to induce sleep such as jasmine or lavendar. I spray lavendar spray in the room a couple of minutes before getting into bed.
8.) Hypnosis tapes / cd's have worked for me or audio with gentle background noise such as the ocean, rainfall, nature etc. which lulls you to sleep while blocking out external sources of noise.
9.) I don't like sleeping drugs either, but a couple of more gentle, yet effective sources you can try are melatonin, about 1/2 an hour before bed or valerian, which is an herbal remedy, taken about 1 hour before bed.
Good luck! :)

Are you bi polar, manic depressive?
It sounds like you maybe in a mania phase -not sleeping, perfectionism.
First things first you have to lay down in the bed. I know for a fact this is the hardest part.
Second you need to do something to control where your mind goes so it doesn't wander and can slow down. Think of something dull but not brain-dead. I heard that counting sheep doesn't work because it is so mundane that your mind wanders.
I do my alphabet backwards. Actually until I started this I couldn't say it backwards. After that became easy I try saying every other letter. I also try picking a topic and go through the alphabet only listing items in the topic.
My father-in-law counts backwards from 100 by sevens.

If you are a teenager, you may need to fall asleep much later, and sleep later, than an adult. There are recent studies on this, which you might be able to look up on Google. I'd do it but I'm too tired.
Some people don't need as much sleep as others.
If you want to fall asleep, try a strong brew of chamomile tea, which will probably put you out like a light.

Hmmmm.
1. Take Nyquil (or any alcohol of that sort. Though that may vary from person to person)
2. Run for 3 miles and then take a hot shower.

Consult your doctor or go SGH for advise. I think there is a department there which handle this kind of problem. You have to do some homework and make enquiries.
