when some one from a non christian religon tries to convince you that their right and you are the sinner. and why cant christians simply accept that non-christians can be just as secure in their spirituality. i'm ritzanalae although i was raised christian. i found a something that makes scence to me that i can believe in with all my heart isnt that the essence of faith. i know the preachy christian is the exception, not the norm, but it makes me so angry when they try and make it hard for me to follow my faith

i didnt mean to sound hipacritical, i simply find it very agravating when people, and christians are the ones i get it from most which is the only reason i direct my question there, try and drive their beliefs down my throat, i wanted to know if they or anyone else felt the same way if i or perhaps a muslam of buhdist (i know i spelled those wrong) tried to do the same to them

no, i don't. cause we were made different with another. different races, different beliefs, different faiths... we were all thrown into this bastion because we are being tested of how strong one clings to his belief, and how weak one is to be swayed. we are here to respect another person's views, opinions, perceptions, definition...
being indifferent in religion doesn't mean we can't share this world, right? in times of troubles, emergencies, don't we all unite to act as one (inspite of these differences)? what is at stake here is life itself, nothing more nothing less...
comprehension, understanding, respect, compassion, humility.... these values are the major keystones.. the give and take lies with these... we must learn to accept it and practice it in real life...
start by saying "I am one with you in thoughts and in deeds. Our differences in whatever faith or race or beliefs doesn't make me or you half of what we are, HUMAN"... anyone who approaches and tries to convince you otherwise, politely say this message and leave him stun in surprise in the wisdom of these words....

I'm finding it difficult to follow the question, so I'll just shoot off what I'm thinking as a gut reaction.
I don't find it aggrivating usually.
How can you be secure in your beliefs if your beliefs are not challenged? I challenge my own beliefs all the time, and it makes it easier to answer really tough emotionally charged questions, because I felt the same emotions and asked the same questions. If you can't answer the questions, you should study your beliefs more, study the Bible more, and have discussions more. If your faith is difficult to follow then, maybe you should reconsider what you believe in?
I only wish that people on the street would confront me about my religious beliefs. It's an opportunity to share my beliefs with them. Preachy is always described in a negative manner. What does Preachy mean? Is Preaching wrong? If you don't want to participate in the discussion just say so. I find it aggrivating if someone says something that I can't reason with.
I'm less comfortable talking about politics, because the first rule of politics is that the more you know the more you realise you don't know. People that know it all don't know anything. But religion is much easier because it's clearer, and more straightforward, as long as you keep your eyes on the ball.
I avoid arguing with Jewish people, and some Islamics, because it gets too personal sometimes. I keep it simple in those cases, and just say that I believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and that's my faith, and avoid pointing out where they might be wrong.
BTW I don't know what ritzanalae is. Enlighten me.

People need to learn how to ignore that kind of stuff. I am Christian and I STILL get it from other Christians. Yes it gets annoying, but most of them really are trying to help. The essence of all religions *should* be to make you a better person. Keep this in mind when they are blasting you and remember that if you can thank them for their concern in all sincerity then you are becoming a better person in the process. It's called taking the high road.

Why then do you identify just one group that is aggravating to you? I thought it very strange that some would put down the religion in which they were raised. Is it because you fear it will color your future and limit your ability to obtain and understand new knowledge? I am smiling as I too saw the aggressiveness of people who believed but couldn't have known. If we change the beliefs to simply 'our' experiences we won't have room to disagree and can change the possibility of war and control of one another.

I as an atheist feel the same, why must any religion be thrust upon me? why am I a heathen or a heretic because I believe in no god? if I'm a decent person who harms no one, why must I follow a religion in order to be recognized as such? do you try to urn people? I would hope not, then you'd be hypocrite.

Hey author, How hypocritical can you be!!
Most attracts on my spirituality comes from Christians. Therefore, for the most part, we keep to ourselves. Some call us "new age" but there is nothing new about it. Nevertheless, we honor ALL beliefs, Atheists, agnostics......everyone.

I don't find it aggravating at all. I just leave these people alone and that keeps me well grounded on my beliefs. No one can change the way I believe when I already know My Lord and Savior.
