ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
Iam a nurse, and Xanax relaxes ALL your muscles, including your heart & lungs (plus, your lungs need the diaphragm to push air out).
Xanax relaxes you,its only a common sensation, like you are falling asleep(many people do go to sleep from this medication),and being under water scuba diving is very dangerous!.
It puts your life at risk, and any other people who may try to help you if difficulties arise.
Plus, some states will hold a person liable if an accident occurred,as taking prescription medication while involving in "iffy" activity is considered an 'intentional risky behavior',and blood tests definatly prove the Xanax in your system.
So please,it isnt worth the risk. What if you (almost) drown, and someone is able to revive you w/ CPR,but you end up permanently a vegetable, living the rest of your days out in a nursing home??
And believe me,many many folks end up like that due to the lack of oxygen to their brain.
It doesnt take much time without oxeygen for the brain to be permantly damaged.

I think you will find that legally you are not supposed to be under the influence of anything when you dive. I have a feeling its a condition of your diving licence. That said, I dont think you'd want to. Be hell weird under there and a little vague - might even forget to breath properly. Guess it depends on dosage etc. Ask your doctor.

If you take xanax regularly, you don't want to stop suddenly for a dive. On the other hand, if you don't take it regularly, you shouldn't take it for the dive. I would ask if you're feeling anxious about the dive? If so, don't take the xanax; deal with your feelings instead.

That would probably be a bad idea. If you are looking to take something for your anxiety so a you can dive...maybe ativan. It works better and doesn't have as much as a side effect.

I certainly wouldn't. Xanax is incredibly strong and it alters your response time & causes extreme fatigue.
Please don't take it before you dive!

its probably not the smart thing to do. Xanax is like a reset button if you had a bad day, you'll wake up the next morning and forget eveything that happened.

I am on it for my anxiety attacks and I never had a problem with doing anything. It depends on what dosage you are on. I would suggest trying normal everyday things on it and then so on and see how it goes.

If you go underwater and are on Xanax, you may have a double surrealistic experience, that may take your breathe away... Do you really want that?
