From what I've read, yes, in some parts the age is as young as 12 and others it's 16, and no where in Mexico is the age of consent 18. So they say it's part of their culture, whatever, they can justify it how ever they wish. I do not know exactly about that...but...the way some cultures treat women is sickening. Female genitalia mutilation still takes place in many cultures and it is just repulsive. For the most part, no. There are some rural places where girls do wed in their teens. I have never heard of someone so young as 12, but I have heard of 15 or 16 year olds getting married. Every culture has its norms. One is not better than any other. Just different.
