if they are not castrated they still want to mark everything with urine just as though they were still going to have sex, dont put your personal fears on your dog, the dog is not a thinking indiviual, he wont care what hes missing if he never has it to start with. which is why you do it as soon as the testicles decend. either that or clean dog pee off everything for the rest of your life,

You can get a vasectomy instead of castration. It is more expensive, though. Call around to vets in your area.
Castration removes the hormone factories (testicles) that cause the dog to misbehave. If you leave the testicles intact, the dog still has the urge to mate, and will roam to find a girlfriend, possibly getting hit by a car or stolen by rude neighbors. These dogs can also be more aggressive, possessive and down right unruly to keep as house pets.
If you object to the look of a neutered dog, look up a product called "Neuticles". Yep, you guessed it, fake testicles. Same people that brought you the fake breast offer this for your enjoyment. It might be worth it to some folks.
The most important thing is, that the dog isn't out making more babies. There are already millions of dogs being killed in shelters to create anymore. So, which ever floats your boat, tweeks your melon, or spanks your monkey, go for it.

They can perform vasectomies on dogs however the dog will still have all of the testosterone flowing through his body which promotes aggression, marking territory, and the will to wander when he smells a ***** in heat. I believe they are happier without all the worries of being a dominant male and getting worked up whenever they smell a female in heat. I have been around dogs all my life as well and I am convinced that neutered dogs have a much happier (not to mention healthier) life.

Actually vasectomies have been known to reverse itself in rare cases. That's what a professor told me once anyway. I would think that castration is cheaper too, though I don't like it myself, but I don't want my dog to get laid and begin humping everything in sight (that's what my ex did).

The difference in dogs is that when they cant breed and be satisfied in it, they will become upset until the point it will kill them.. They will not eat or anything. I had a Great Dane die when my yorkie female came into heat. He just couldnt seem to get to her on her level (if you know what i mean) he wouldnt eat and we couldnt figure out what was wrong. His stomach was twisted and eventually died. Once a dog has been casterated, he is not as interested and that makes them happier.

Most people have their pets "castrated" so that they don't rape other people's dogs, so that they don't screw their guests' legs and so they don't spray all over the house. A vasectomy wouldn't prevent any of these things.

They make artificial testes for dogs, but it's to satisfy the owner's ego, not the dog's. And dishonest people would happily be showing and selling fixed male dogs as studs. They could set up a stud service and charge $$$ then claim the reason the female didn't conceive is something is wrong with the female. The owner of the female would wind up spending a lot of money on unnecessary fertility tests.
Also if your neighbor is threatening to sue you because your male was spotted humping their pedigreed female, you could just have your dog roll over on his back and point out that it was not possible for him to impregnant thier dog without testicles.

i hear ya. i hve a male dog myself.
however, if u get ur dog neutered it will control the pet population (which is way overpopulated). but it's true. dogs live happier, healthier, and stress-free lives when they're neutered. when a dog is neutered, there is no chance for him to have reproductive cancer later in life.
