When I take my dog on walks she usually afraid of most people and puts her tail in her legs, but at random people she'll lash out at them barking ferousiously and trying to snap at them, and theres no pattern in race or age. Why does she do this? Is there a pattern, or can dogs sense something about people?

Dogs have a keen sense of people's true characters. Yet, your dog may just be a fear biter. It sounds like she's got some anxiety problems. It may not be the person she's sensing, but her own fears and anxieties snapping her into action. Something you might want to try is positive reinforcement. Whenever she passes someone while you're walking her and she doesn't bark, give her a treat. When she does bark or act aggressive scold her and do not give her a treat. She may start to understand that it is unacceptable to snap at people. Good luck!

Weird....usually when dogs do that it is because of race or age. I think dogs can somewhat sense what sort of mood someone is in, but it don't think that would cause the dog to want to attack unless the person actively threatened them. Try paying attention to hair color...maybe the dog just doesn't like blondes or something like that.

I think they can sense things. They also have a much more keen smell of things. I would bet if you could figure it out there is a pattern. My dog does the same thing but it's to skate boards and spray bottles. Strange but dogs have their reasons just as we do.

people always say animals can sense many things which human cant, like fear, etc. how do animals know that an earthquake is coming or the coming winter is a nasty one? i guess its in their instincts. another reason that i can think of is that your dog dislikes or is allergic to a certain smell and when she picks up from some people she will bark at them.

Chances are, your dog senses something in certain people. There is really nothing you can do, but try to calm your dog when it comes across people it doesn't like.

The person may have a odd sent or your dog may be timd.
