I am a 15 year old girl who is extreamly active... I have been since I was very young. I play competitive basketball Sept.-April along with school sports like basketball sept.- Nov. Volleyball Nov. - Feb. and Hurdling (track) march-june. I have also started running useing a walk-run program during the summer.
But dispite all this training etc. I am still a little flabby around my stomach. My BMI percent is anywhere between 21% and 26% so I'm not over-weight. I also eat healthy...

HOW CAN I LOOSE THIS EXTA FLAB???

I am so confused... I eat healthy, and exercise ALOT... why is the fat still there?

Erin

Erin sweety,

The fat is only there in your eyes. I defy you to find a person who can stand naked in front of a mirror and not find something wrong. Everybody is concerned about some body part or another. If you find yourself becoming obsessed with it and doing things which you know are unhealthy (like starving yourself, eating a poor diet, or purging), you should find somebody to talk to. Otherwise, try to focus on your good characteristics and keep at those sports! Make a deal with yourself that you'll keep exercising like this for the next 10 years and your whole life will be better.

Cheers!

Lift heavier weight when training, work abs only 2 times at the most, only eat multi-grain wheat breads. Also cut out all sugars, caffeine,up the cardio,,jump rope or running.Only consume fruits and veggies, protein with every meal.Dont eat after 8pm,sleep minimum of 7hrs a night. If all steps followed you should see results in about 2 weeks.Do not go by scale ,use the mirror test. You should feel and notice the difference. However if you are sexually active you maybe pregnant! REMEMBER TO STRETCH !

Well, another reason you may find that you still have a tummy is that it is actually a result of all the extra waste left in your colon.

Your colon is in the middle of your body and is 7.5 times your height. You may eat 3 meals a day but may not go to toilet for 'big business' three times a day.

Thus, some of it is left inside your colon.Over long periods of time, you have more and more stuff inside. An average person may have 2-10kg of junk inside their colon.. which will possibly make them look like they have a huge tummy.

Just try to remove it by taking some fibre product like Hunza Fibre Plus.

Every person is known to put on weight to a greater degree in a specific body region. For some (actually most), it may be the stomach; others, the butt, legs, or arms. If you're trim everywhere else, that may be the particular area where your fat tends to stay.

However, besides this natural tendency, I'm wondering if you're actually doing exercises that specifically target your abs?

Do you know these ab exercises?:

Sittings Tucks: Basically the same as sit-ups, except the idea is attempt to get your knees to touch your shoulders; repeat (lower abs)

V-Sits: Lie on your back, arms extended above head; legs straight out in front; then attempt to touch your fingers to your toes; repeat (lower abs)

Kneeling Good Mornings: Start from a kneeling position; keep your arms straight out in front of you; bend from your waist until you're looking directly at the floor; (much harder if you're holding a medicine ball while doing this) repeat; (upper abs)-- can also be done standing

Sideways Good Mornings: Start from a kneeling position; arms above head; twisting from your waist, turn your torso to the right and bend until you're looking directly at the floor; come back up and to centre; twisting from your waist, turn your torso to the left and bend until you're looking directly at the floor; come back up and to centre; (harder if you use a medicine ball) repeat; (lateral abs)--can also be done standing

All Ab Exercise: Starting on your stomach, try getting to a seated position without using your arms; work all abs by making sure you roll to different sides when you repeat; (probably looks really silly but really works the abs-- much harder if you're holding a medicine ball).

You could do something like these exercises as part of your exercise routine (i.e., your abs routine). You could do something like 3 sets of all the above exercises with 10 reps for each on a daily basis.

95% has something to do with foods. i know u've mentioned that you eat healthy but healthy might mean different with other people. To some apple pie is healthy because it's "apple". Try eating more vegetables, fruits, nuts for snacks. Fit for life is a good book as it not only focus on losing the weight but also healthy lifestyles. Try avoiding oily stuff, juice from store. make your own. Juice also gives you more energy as your very active you said. Some of them also have to do inside our body. Gall bladder, kidney and colon cleansing will also help. We need to also take care of our inside. Just imagine all the processed foods that we eat and even vegetables and fruits with pesticides in them...you just never know the invisible living creature that goes in our body...there are parasites and bacteria and when we don't do cleansing it stays there and that's where some of the sickness are coming from.

Do more stomach crunches or exercises that will involved your tummy everyday. Although you are active in sports now but most of the muscles used are usually just around your arms and legs, thus the fats in the stomach/tummy remains. Trust me, I had this problem too and I am trying to deal with it now.

if you're healthy, don't worry about it. a little bit of flab is no big deal. it might just be your body type. Unless you were overweight, there's really nothing you can probably do. except maybe some crunches to tighten your abs a little. But don't get too skiny. curves = sexy. look at Marylin Monroe. <3

hi erin! well you are doing all the physical things that need done, plus you are eating right, try not eating heavy foods right before bedtime due to your not having enough time to break it down at a quicker rate with less activeties, also try doing situps and cruches everyday. good luck sweetie oh and remember no pain no gain! :)

it takes time to lose it all. Strengthen your abdominus rectus muscles and it'll get better soon. Don't drink any carbonated drinks and do ABS exercises too,

If you keep doing this stuff that you are doing, your flab will settle. You are probably due one last growth spurt any time now... Keep up your regime and you will be trim, toned and terrific!
