First check the fluid level.
Next check that the linkage to the shifter is still connected and functioning.
Insure that the drive shaft is still connected and the universal joints are not broken.

If you find that both the above are OK.
Call a qualified repair center.

Transmissions aren't things you want to screw with. Try putting it into a low gear first, after doing basics [like checking the fluids, parking brake, etc..] and do not try to do anything yourself. You should just get a new one, especially if it's an automatic. Automatics are expensive to repair, and do not work the same after they're fixed. Manuals will be a bit better, but will also not be the same. Try your 2nd and 3rd gears to make sure you can move, and if it won't go in reverse either, you might just have a dead transmission.

You have 2 choices:

1. You can repair your transmission
2. Buy a new one

I recommend a new one. No matter how gifted the mechanic is an automatic transmission that has been repaired is never the same and will give more problems in the long run. A new transmission is more expensive than repairing it, but believe me, you will save money in the long run.

Oh... BTW.. no simple solution....

hi there,
well ur problem seems a bit complicated one. think tht the transmission might have got stuck down under. hence when u put in the gears ur car reverses up. its better u consult a car mechanic. i think its time to go in for a new transmission coz i suppose ur transmission is dead. however have a check of ur car fluids before going in. a word of caution: do not mess up with the transmission urself for while driving it is the lifeline for the driver. better u go on to buy a new one.

No simple fix for a layman. Have a qualified mechanic check the transmission. Unless you know transmissions, there is not much you can do on your own.

Dear, Friend
You Just first see your gear at the top you find some 4 different gears allowted in various direction and you have to also know how to use different gear in different speed. Just remembering all above aspects you can drive your car in forward direction instead of reverse.
