What do we know about this condition where fibers grow out of the skin? Is there even a name for it?

It was on ABC Primetime last night. It's called Morgellon's Syndrome. The fibers are Morgellon's fibers, and it is believed to be caused by some sort of parasite type thing.

Morgellans. I was just reading about this yesterday on the comcast homepage. Some of the folks sounded real, others sounded a little nutty and over the top.
