Generally our conditions are much better here and the economy is such that if a person works hard they can make a living without having to worry about a corrupt government taking it all away. The Mexican government is really crooked, especially at the local level. So it's really no wonder they want a better life here in America.

You remember the history books with the French aristocratic class, after the queen replied to the peasants, "Let them eat cake". Then the French revolution happened.
Well that's whats happening in Mexico. The rich don't pay proportional propterty taxes like in the USA. For example a climbing scale. Corruption lives deep in the institutions of these government agencies. Money is never what it seems when legislation passes for social progams and public works.
During natural disasters the upper class knows the government can't do its job. The disparity from Upper class to lower class is just one step, nothing in between. So we get back to the cake. Their view point is if they can't take care of themselves, then they can go to the USA.

I wish it were that simple, maybe in a perfect world....One way to see it is, "power corrupts, absolute power, corrupts absolutely"....
I agree, I go there often to visit and its really beautiful in so many different ways, I am not talking about the tourist places either, I am talking culture and architecture.....
I think a lot has to do with Mexican culture....Generally Mexicans tend to be pacifist's....They don't like to cause problems or make waves, they would rather just stay in the poverty and deal with it...But many are tired and find it impossible to change the status quo....So they flee, much to there peril, they don't always find greener grasses in this country, but their lives do improve more than if they remained in Mexico...

Well probably the ones you come across are of the minority of mexico.. it is hard to get a job that pays well to provide for a family. And maybe there weren't honest or as honest as you thought. and come on man. the us is known as land of the big PX * military terms* but still. People see America as a place to be free, to earn money and to prosper here.

Mexico is a very beautiful country i agree but it does not have the job resources to support its population. even people that go to school get a masters, a doctorate find getting a job very difficult and sometime professionals have to get jobs at fast food places or things not concerning their career. Not from choice but because they cant find jobs.

I am Mexican living in Mexico and I know Mexicans in here will hate me but there are 3 cases according to my theory:
1.-They lost all hopes and they are tired to fight. By instant professionals earn few money. We earn the same than a waiter.
2.-Some people like easy money and they did not try to fight.
3.-Some of them were convinced by others who sold them the "American dream"
Not my case, I prefered to stay here and fight for my country. I don't want to be object of racism and if someday I want to go there I want to do it legally. I have my visa but just for bussiness or pleasure. But I haven't lost hopes and I am still willing to fight for my country. I won't run away leaving my country in hands of bad politicians while I am away allowing them to do everything they want.
I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY
