It varies-- usually it's not a set fee, it is a percentage of your total wedding budget.
What are you so stressed out about? If it helps, the only two wedding planning books I ever recomend are Miss Manners on Weddings and The Everything Wedding Planning Book. Most other books are just full of junky, bad advice.

10 to 20 percent of the entire wedding bill.
It's well worth it though as it saves you huge headaches and when you have to play "bully", you can blame it on the planner

lol i wish my wedding planner was going to be 10 bucks, it depends how they charge by, some charge up to $100 dollars per hour, it really depends on how sucsessful the planner is.

Get a book and follow the instructions. Your fiance and maid of honor SHOULD be of big help to you. Otherwise turn it all over to the parents. If you have a set of parents and a set of prospective in-laws who DON'T want to take over, you are very lucky.
