I don't believe in the bible or any other holy book for that matter. In fact I believe you'll find more proof of god studding a simple leaf from any given tree then you will in any written work.
I am very spiritual and I do believe in superior being or "GOD", but not because of any religious teachings, my belief comes from inside of me......I just feel it.....
I don't believe in hell......but I do believe that our actions and experiences here on earth determine what happens to our souls beyond this lifetime......
I don't believe in heaven, well not as most mainstream religions do any way. I believe there is an existence after death, but I don't think it's all perfect wonderful and joyful, honestly, an eternity of "perfection" would get really boring, really quick. I believe we will still be faced with deferent challenges in the after life, and our life here is to only prepare us for what is to come.........

I don't believe god punishes us for out sins. On the same token, I don't believe sins are as simple as doing something wrong verses doing something right, but more of not learning or growing from what ever it is you did or experienced wither it was right or wrong.........
I do not believe that we are created in the image of god, but I do believe that our souls are of the same essence of god............
I do not believe that we are alone, and that there is other life in this universe that also share in this essence..........
I do believe in evil, and in the battle against it, but I also believe that evil is often misunderstood and easily mis-identified............
These is more, but this should give you an idea of my beliefs....so now, what I'm I?, and are there others with similar beliefs as me?

I also beleave that the best way to prais god is to simply injoy the one gift he gave us all......life.
With out a doubt, you can never go wrong with trying to live your life to the fullest.I know there are others with similar beliefs, though they don't have to be exact. I am just unsure what I would call my "religion", It is also nice to know that I'm not alone in those beliefs.... The interesting part is that all of us who have these similar beliefs came to them on our own, from our self's. I still don't know what we would or ever should call ourselves, but at the moment I'm learning more about Deism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/deism...
Since it seems to encompass many of my beliefs.....It really isn't important to me to have a title for my beliefs but it would be nice to have a simple answer when I'm asked what my faith is. I'm just tired of being called an atheist, because I'm not.

Reply to Segenovmoltock: It would depend on wither Hitler and Stalin truly learned the errors of there past and the wrongful implications they caused, if they had then I would think they would move on to what ever is next...though I doubt that they did, in which there is no punishment. There essence would just seize to continue, that in itself could be seen as worse then punishment.
Reply to Nancyjo: I just wanted to think you for your comment, and prayer, they are both greatly appreciated =]
Reply to Aquyinthewoods: If I am wrong, and after I die, God chooses to punish me for my beliefs, then i would take my punishment with out objection for what I belief is truly what is in my heart. It wrong and selfish to force myself in believing differently only as a way to avoid punishment.
To everyone I truly appreciate all your responses, I don't mean to offend anyone, and I think you all for being honest.

Hi Alex
How are you friend? I do not profess to know all the anwers but I think I can answer a few in your case.It is very true about what you say about looking at a simple leaf. You might want to take a look at Romans 1:20. It says here that man is inexcusable to denie God after seeing His creations.
As far as hell goes you are right again! The literal meaning of hell both in the Hebrew[shoel] and in the greek[hades] is a hole in the ground or grave. The place of torment and punishment is a pagan beleif thousands of years old that infiltrated into the Christian congragation in the 3rd century. Probably by Constine who started the Catholic church. All other religions are offshoots from the bad apple of Conatantine!
Heaven is a real place but you and I will never see it! Man was created to live on the earth and this is where we belong. You say you do not beleive in the Bible. There is a perfect explaination why we have these conditions we have today on the earth. Maybe we can go there at some other time.Spirit creatures reside in the heavens. I do not expect you to beleive this either.
We were made in the image of God.Not physicaly but His qualities like love, wisdom. Did you know that the Bible says that God is love. He has a bright future for some of mankind. Did you know that the Bible says many times that Satan is ruling over the earth? In the near future it will be taken back! That is why the Lords prayer sats Let YUOR kingdom come as in heaven let it also be that way on the earth[para phrase]Matthew 6:9
So when you say what am I , I would say that you are pretty much on track.I hope we can talk more friend . wbyrne100@hotmail.com

I'll start with what I am, I am a Roman Catholic who goes to church every Sunday. However, unlike many catholics I don't agree with everything the church says. The bible, or any holy book, for that matter wasn't written by God's own two hands. People wrote them, whether they were touched by God or not. So, you can't take everything in there word for word. You aren't an atheist, you do believe in some higher being. On the other hand you aren't any set religion. Stop asking yourself what are you because you will never find a religion that has the same view as you. You might think deism, but thats not a religion or a belief. Deism is using logic as a basis to believe in God, but it will never work. Not everything can be explained logically but it still happened, so you use belief and faith to explain it. hmmmm...I just reread your post and your ideas remind me of the ancient egyptians. They believed in many gods, but put that aside. All of them believed in an afterlife, not necessarily a perfect one either. Also, they didn't believe in heaven or hell, if you were bad during your life you would simply cease to exist, or your soul would be devoured by the god that was the shape of a crocodile(i don't remember the name). Also, this life they used to prepare for the next. So, you aren't the only one to believe like this, but I can understand why you would feel alone and different in this world. Personaly, I think if you are a good person and live your life righteously for the most part you have a very good chance of getting into heaven. But thats my opinion and you may not agree, but that doesn't mean either of us is wrong. God is the final judge, none of us is perfect so we have no right to judge others.

You are a free thinker.
If you write down your beliefs and philosophies, and start sharing them with other people you can live a tax free life as the founder of a religion. Pretty good stuff.
I would like to address what I believe is an error in your thinking though, and I hear this one a lot. Heaven - at least a perfect heaven - would not be boring, as boring would imply an imperfection. A perfect heaven would be absolute bliss for every single soul dwelling there.
If your idea of sin is "an it harm none do as ye will" you might be a Wiccan. Try reading "The Spiral Dance" and see if it rings true for you.

I am very similar to you. I have seen more evidence of God in a sunset than in a church. I believe the bible is interesting as an historic work, but is not something to be taken verbatim. I believe that there is a higher power, but that we each connect with it in our own way. I laugh at those who say that because you're not part of their religion you're going to hell. Who's to say who's right? Maybe they're in trouble for not believing as I do, or as you do. We are here to do the best we can, and being a good and caring person is more important than whether or not I sit in a church every Sunday.
Everyone who takes the bible as the literal word of God should study history, as I have. Once you understand how much of Christianity is stolen from other "pagan" religions, you would realize that Christianity as we know it is something tailor made by a small group of men to appeal to the widest range of people. It's not the word of God handed directly to you.
If what you believe works for you, makes you a happy, well adjusted person, then more power to you!

Sounds like you are a Deist...
What is Deism?
Deism is a belief in God through one’s own reasoning and study of nature. Deism doesn’t accept that any holy book is the work of God. Deists are people that believe in Deism.
How do you know that there is a God?
Different Deists have used their own reasoning and studies to decide that there is, or probably is, a supreme being otherwise known as God. So there is no one answer as to why Deists believe in a God.

I believe you are learning and growing and seeking and God has His loving hand squarely on your back. You are so sincere and I admire that.
No, I don't believe as you do. I am thoroughly persuaded that the Bible is God's Holy word. From Genesis to the Revelation there is a blood red string woven through every book. I believe that string is tied directly to Jesus Christ.
But........you will continue your search and I will pray that you will find the peace your heart needs someday.

I think believing in God and Jesus the "Christian" way has made my life worse. I like your way better. No Hell (hey, people who murder go to Heaven, while people who have never even heard of Jesus go to Hell...pretty lame). No Heaven. Being an individual, instead of doing everything for God. Doing the right thing because you truly believe it, and not because of a book. I want to live like you...
I think you're spiritual, but not religious. I think it's peaceful living!

You're a person who is decieved. The Bible plainly says that those who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. God punishes sin, even after people become Christians, though Christians punishment ends after death, but not the Lost.
Sure A Christian can escape punishment sometimes by asking forgivness, but some times God punishes any way, to make us followe him
