If my lifetime, I've been affiliated with Church of Christ, Freewill Baptist, Assemblies of God, and Lutheran churches. After that, I became a member of the Baha'i Faith. Now, I'm a Buddhist. If that isn't the epitome of doubt, what is?
I believe it healthy to continuously question one's beliefs. Not to the point of inaction, but just enough to be able to take something that just doesn't seem right and not excuse it away as some mystery, because that's simply avoiding the cognitive dissonance that one has.
It's perfectly fine to totally believe in whatever faith system, even an atheistic one, that a person chooses to subscribe to. I simply feel that the ultimate faith should be placed in what your heart and mind tell you.

I do have my doubts because they are founded in facts. I doubt that every person who calls themselves a Christain is a Christain. Because if 80% of America are Christains then the U.S. would be a totally diffrent place. What I doubt is the people who pratice "religion" with out knowing the truth of that so called "faith". I do not doubt my faith in Jesus Christ I have a real and living relationship with Him. In the Bible in the book of James there is a passage which says the thing we are to do religiously is take care of widows and fatherless children. Almost every "relgion" has a history one that is true and not just from a "certain point of view". The Mormon/ Latter day saints founder has just a bloody history as Mohamand of Islam. The Johova Witness' have take after a false teacher and are running headlong away from any simblamce of truth. The Catholics have their harisy and have rewritten the bible to fit thier point of view. The list can go on and on. Here is the real question do you want religion or do you want truth? If the first then there are plenty to chose from and and you might find one which tells the truth if you are just trying by luck. If however you want Truth then just read the bible (The New King James is good, no thee's or thou's) Search the word of God honestly. IF you truly are seeking God and not just a feeling then God has made a promise to you. "If you seek Me you will find me" and "Seek the Lord with all your heart lean not on your own understanding. In all your way trust in Him and He will direct your path."
I hope this puts a little light on you search.
Alan
P.S. If any one say That Scolars don't believe... the are only repeating the lies which they themselves were told. There is more evidence that says the bible is true than any existing document in the entire history of writen text. And as if God need to varify what He said was true He as a 100% accury rate with speaking of future events. There is NOT one book or so called religion or prophet out side of God's children who can make that claim.
The Lord called, did you hear him.

Yes of course. Only people who shouldn't be permitted to vote or have children never doubt. It is the nature of life.
The idea of the "god of the gaps" is getting fairly pathetic. We are filling in the map's edges scientifically and otherwise. There is less and less that God needs to have done -- it is very clear that most everything that we think He did could have and probably did happen entirely without divine intervention. While the idea of superior beings is very likely true -- it is looking more and more likely that there is no supreme being, and that the multi-verse probably has a natural paradigm toward life that will endure forever.
We certainly know what God did NOT do. Write the Bible for example, no serious scholar believes that the Bible is divine writ anymore -- and those "fundamentalists" that do so believe are pathetic as theologians, and as historians -- they offer nothing meaningful in support of their outdated conventions. My Church doesn't think the Bible is divinely inspired, so that helps, but it still leaves the shrinking areas where God could be -- something that only the ignorant can miss.
I don't normally speak this bluntly, I hope it helps.
I by the way have NO QUESTION AT ALL about eternal life -- I'm just not at all sure there's a God or a heaven to spend it in sometimes.
I continue to believe by faith, but its a battle sometimes.
Kind regards,
Reynolds

Doubt is a normal reaction to all things in life. We should always approach everything with a grain of salt so to speak, and ask questions.
If you ever run into a pastor, priest, preacher minister of ANY faith, and they say that they know ALL,- RUN.......No one person can give you the answer to every question that you may have.
If you are a Christian, and you are wondering if what your pastor is preaching is right, it is your responsibility to find out the truth on your own. And the sources that you may use can vary.
It is your personal walk with the Divine, & your personal choice of references to use.
No one person experiences the Divine or truth the same as another.
Truth has many faces. So to doubt and ask questions is normal. If anyone tells you differently, they are trying to control you.
Jesus said "Work out your own salvation".

Everybody has doubts in their lives which is normal but is for the purpose of making your faith stronger. There's something that makes you realize that what you belive in is true. If you doubt your belives all the time, then you have problems and need help.

Sometimes I doubt because i was raised to believe a certain thing and it's very hard for me to get away from those teachings. I feel like my mind is on a one track corse and is completely closed. and i really dont know what to do about it beside trying hard to keep my mind open.

If a person joins a religion why would they not know what religion they belong to? This question doesn't make much sense.

I was an atheist. I grew to doubt it.
I ultimately committed my life to Jesus Christ.
