If Islam is a religion of peace why are they so violent? and why are most Muslim countries all failed states?

like seriously? Muslims like to brag sooo much about their religion...but If Islam is a religion of peace why is there so much violence in the Islamic world? and why are most Muslim countries all failed states and have failed economies?

I think that's a good question. I think it is not a religion which teaches peace. It teaches to fight for your religion.

I'm not going to quote scripture to you or spew some sort of nationalistic nonsense to make myself feel better, you've asked an honest question and deserve an honest answer. Muslim countries are all failed (or failing) states for one simple reason in my opinion: colonization. In the period after WWII most of the Middle East was decolonized. You know what everyone says is going to happen in Iraq if we cut and run? Well it happened. There was no transition of power or anything close to that, the European powers (who now by the way are just appalled at our aggression) just left. Before they left they had arranged the Middle East into Countries according to their economic value. This put several different cultures and ethinticities in the same country (which they had never heard of) and ruled by a single leader. And what leaders would decades of oppression and abuse produce? No... not George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, our country removed itself from the British empire, not the other way around. This area was closer, more rich in natural resources and easier to control. When the Europeans took off, the only ones who were able to consolidate power were the ones who wanted it really really bad. These men are typically not of the highest moral standards so they had the occasional rowdy down. There was absolutely no infrastructure when the Europeans left, and famine and desease were rampant. So, to make a long story short (and Christ help us this actually is the short version) they are infant countries, democracies, morarchies, etc. The nutjobs who run Iran only came to power in the 70s, Pakistan and India are both only 50 years old, and the border with Afghanistan is still only conceptual, it hasn't even been surveyed. Decolonization happened about 40-50 years ago, we had a civil war in our own country 90 years after independance. They still have some growing up to do.

The Muslim religion is a religion of peace I guess, but its also a religion of war. Much like Christianity, Hinduism and Judaism it emphasized the need for peaceful coexistance, but seem to be very clear on how to deal with one of those pesky _____ (insert the geographically closest opposing doctrine here, and add a "ists" or "ian".)

Ever culture has a stereotype such as the rest of the world viewing Americans as fat idiot Bush lovers, we view Muslims as extremist who try to kill everything non Muslim. Are all americans fat idiot Bush lovers no, are all Muslims hateful no, but that is the downside to stereotypes people never learn that they are for the most part not true. Also the people blowing things up make the news the doctors helping the injured and speaking out against the extremist don't make the news, we believe what we are shown unfortunatly we are only shown one side. Also there is a difference between a person of Middle Eastern heritage and a muslim, not all people from the Middle East are muslims and not all muslims are from the Middle East.

As for the failed economies alot of that has to do with sanctions though many muslims that live in the Middle East make plenty of money on the oil trade. Those who move out of the Middle East often go on to take jobs as doctors lawyers pilots etc. As for failed states that is yet again in our eyes because they have religious heads of states that are not democratic we lump them into failed countries yet this is unfair democracy is not for every country and culture, afterall the U.S. itself technically isn't a democracy but rather a democratic republic. The reason the groups hate each other in the same country is due to colonization , and outsiders thinking "all muslims are the same" and lumping them into country boundaries with other groups they hate. This also happened in Africa, so alot of this rivalry and hatred is not something that happens naturally alot of it is due to being stuck in situations and places that no Western civilization has similar problems with.

Those violent people are ignorant and don't know the real teachings of Islam. those "Muslims countries" your talking about aren't really Muslim none of them are following Islam. Firstly some Muslim countries have monarchy which is forbidding in Islam. Secondly everyone has to be treated equally and fairly, which they don't carry out which means men, women. Muslim, non-Muslims. Women can't drive which in Islam wouldn't have any objection so they don't they don't follow the basic rulings of Islam. And the "Muslim countries" are probably the richest countries in the world with their oil. But you can't blame us Muslims for the acts of "Muslims countries" and the extremist, we are not responsible for their actions neither are Christians for the extremist that were in Ireland or the failing Christian countries that exist today.

Islam is a religion of peace. those who do violent actions, and those who commit violent and hurtful acts are not at all Muslim, or those who practice the religion. its so stupid when people go and talk about something they only heard one side of. they brag about it, because they are trying to let the world understand that the al-quaida, and the 9/11 attacks were not done by Muslims, but by people who have no religion, who have no soul. there is not a religion out there that says go hurt innocent people. those bastards were not human.

And we've got this christian president bombing neighborhoods, ordering the torture of innocent people, threatening war against other countries..... Wierd. Agree. Too much violence in the name of religion. Like many dictatorships who like to control the minds of others. censuring the press, freedom, and free will. Yes the ability to decide on our own which path to chose without persecution, and judgment.

as far as failure is concerned. dont u think it the responsibilty of a 1st world country to help in the uplifltment of the 3rd world and developing country. when u bomb states i garee that it is hard and demoralizing for some1 to kill but people ther can come up in their lives.

but people in afghan and iraq can never build up their wconomy on their own. it is people from 1st group countries who should help people who are poor and un/under-developed.
