EVERYONE!
READ THIS!
IT MAY BE YOUR LIFE RUSHING TO THE HOSPITAL ONE DAY!
IT MAY BE YOU THEY ARE TRYING TO GET TO AT AN ACCIDENT SITE!
It is actually a written law that you move over for emergency vehicles and police with their lights on!
Whatever you think is so important that you cannot take the 30 seconds to pull to the side, it is NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are so right. This isn't just a matter of courtesy (which seems to have disappeared from the highways) but a matter of law. Unfortunately, it is seldom enforced. Emergency vehicles need to be able to get through traffic quickly, without weaving around bone-heads who are too busy talking on their cellphones to pay attention to the lights and sirens, or who are afraid they are going to lose their place in line if they pull over. I'd like to sit on the back of a fire truck and spray paint balls at the offending cars, so everyone can recognize them as the dorks they are.

when police or emergency vehicles are using sirens or flashing lights. The driver must pull to the right-hand edge of the roadway and stop, if necessary. Intersections must not be blocked.
From your driving manual.
Get in thier way and they may run into you...
they are NOT responsible if YOU do not
follow the "rules of the road".

It's not just a common courtesy in MO, its the law, however last week the newspaper stated that Webster County won't be enforcing that law any more. Not only is that refusing to enforce a law, it's disrespectful to the troopers we've lost and their familie in such violations. BTW, one of our cops was relieved of his duties got ticketing his sargeants family for violating that law..

Yes!! A great question! I've noticed this too. I always pull over and it seems like no one else does any more. I think everyone should go back and take a written driver's test over again. It's too bad those cops that are trying to get through with their lights going are trying to get somewhere more important, because I'd love to see some of those stupid drivers get pulled over for NOT pulling over.

Most people in this society really only think of themselves. They could be just driving, not talking on a cell phone , or even listening to a radio, and they just won't pull over. I used to be a volunteer firefighter and I seen plenty of vehicles who would not pull over until the 3rd or 4th time we blew our horn.If it was there house on fire you bet they would want everyone else to pull over fast.

I pull over. I think that people that don't should be fined. Have cameras on the emergency vehicles that can look up plates and then send them in to dispatch. The tickets can be sent through the mail.

I know what you are talking about. It irks me. Don't all these people remember when they took their driving exams? It clearly states in the book that we are suppose to give emergency personnel the right of way by pulling over to the side to provide passage.

Most likely because everyone is too busy talking on their cell phones. Next time you drive, count the people talking on their cell phones. Its horrible, I'm surprised more people havn't died because they're too busy talking on their phone. I dont mind a short quick call but its outrageous when people are having meaningless conversations while they drive. People need to be a little bit more observant. Enough said.

As one that would like to see that more. You would be supprised at the answers the give while they are being ticketed.
It does creat a problem for the few of us that need it done. It could be their family that we are going to help and they are the ones that slowed us down.
It did make the difference once.
