who they are of what they stand for. I have met some of the nicest people that have been from countries from Peru and Brazil. Also other countries from south america. Why is everyone so generalized and don't view people from person to person?

im an immigrant..and i can tell you that people would just rather follow stereotypes rather than get to know people. Its life, and there's pretty much nothing that can be done regarding people that won't take the time to know someone before judging them.

It is irrelevant.

Of course most of them are nice people. However, we can't afford to educate and provide health care for Mexico's poor and the poor of other countries on top of our own. People talk about the huge burden the baby boomers will be in retirement, but forget how much their working years paid into this system. There should be surplus, not drained services at this point. We can't even take care of and educate our own properly in areas where illegals concentrate. We can't take on these kinds of numbers of poor people from other countries as well. That is why we limit how many poor people can come, to begin with.

Immigrants, legal or illegal are mostly and on the majority not a problem. Not as people or concerning criminal statistics. Illegal Immigrants are not "leeches" they support our very foundation filling jobs in agriculture, dairy and meat products which is basiclly most of the food in your super markets. They do jobs that get paid way below the minimum wage to do job hours that are from 11 to 12 to even thirteen hours where they do not have basic neccesities like water a bathroom or anything we take for granted. I consider these hard working peoples to be giving more than they take. If anyone is to be called Leeches its the rest of us.

If you had bothered to read a few of the questions and answers on here, you would realize that most people do NOT have a problem with "legal immigrants." It's "illegal immigration" people are not happy about.

You're right, there are nice people all over this world. However, immigrants are only nice if they immigrate legally!

It is not that people think immigration is bad. America allows many LEGAL immigrants into this country. The issue is with people entering the country illegally. Why should people that fail to follow our rules be aloud rights and privileges of others. Imagine waiting for hours in line to continually see people cut in front again and again. Is that right? I have yet to hear a complaint about legal immigration, but it is very disconcerting to see people protesting in the US waving Mexican flags, especially considering Mexican citizenship rules are MUCH more restrictive than the US. Ironic isn't it?

I, along with most Americans do not think immigrants are bad people. I assume you are talking about people against illegal immigrants. If so then: Why can't people complain/speak out against illegal immigration without someone saying, " But we aren't bad people" I am sure there are many nice, decent people who come here illegally but it doesn't make the illegal acts they do right. If you are refering to the immigration debate then: I havnt heard many people, or anyone, complain or put down immigrants in general.

Talk about generalization. You are generalizing those who hate illegal immigration with those people who do not like immigrants. Apparently, YOU have no idea. The majority population of the US is against ILLEGAL immigration, not against legal immigration. That stance is based on the multiple criminal and economic impositions caused by their illegal acts such as invasion of a sovereign country (ours), identity theft, tax evasion, and social security fraud, not by the fact that that they come from a different country.

When a criminal robs your house, is it OK with you that he does it if he's a nice person otherwise?

Honey, you are not getting this .. people are NOT against all immigrants! People are against those who come to this country ILLEGALLY. Why is this SO hard to understand??? We are ALL descendents of immigrants, so it would make absolutely NO sense to be against someone who chose to come to this country LEGALLY to gain a better life, just as most of our ancestors did..

Most of those bigoted against immigration are acutely aware of what it meant for the Native Americans!

The valid objections are with people who are in the country illegally. Unfortunately some ignorant people can't seem to make that distinction and use all immigration as an excuse to spout their own stupidity.
