Some people are not as comfortable with new technology as others are. A canceled check is a great way to be able to prove payment.

Have you ever heard of patience? Waiting for a minute or two while they pay for their groceries whatever way they choose to won't kill you. If you're in such a damn hurry that you don't have a couple of spare minutes, do your shopping when you have time for it.
Paying by an ATM card takes longer than cash. So aren't you an asshole for wasting my time by paying by an ATM card instead of cash while I'm waiting right behind you?
We have options how to pay and that's a good thing, because what works for you may not work for someone else. We have different needs and it's great that we can have a choice and choose what suits us best. The time difference in how long it takes to pay with each method is so little that it doesn't matter, you just have to learn to be patient because you are not the center of the universe and not the only person who needs to do some shopping.
Believe me, when you stop getting irritated over such small and insignificant things you'll feel better than you do now. There's no need for all that stress and hurry.

ATM cards cost more per use at some banks. Credit Cards can be stolen and cause a lot of loss of both cash and credit history.
Waiting until the last minute to start writing it is a little rude, but so is calling someone an ****** for writing a check.

Perhaps the lady didn't have an ATM card, and didn't have enough cash on her to pay. Did you think of that?
Then there is also the possibility that she didn't know how to spell the store's name!! She obviously couldn't write in the amount beforehand because she didn't know how much the purchase was going to be after taxes.
I agree that she could've gone ahead to date and sign the check. But if it were a true inconvience, you could have simply switched lines!!

Well, maybe they lost their ATM card and waiting for a new one...
And you try to fill out a check before hand while loading groceries onto the counter, keeping an eye on your baby, purse and diaper bag all at the same time. It's apathy that makes this world such a crappy place to live in sometimes!!!!

Is this the best thing you have to worry about? I am one of those ******* who still writes checks. When It comes to my turn to check out, the check is written and all I have to do is fill in the amount. Now, if you don't have time to wait for that, you didn't have time to stop and shop either. It doesn't take me any longer than it takes you to swipe your card and sign.
O.K. smart boy....Have you ever misplaced an A.T.M. slip? Have you forgot taking money out? Then you are short in the checking account? Never happened?
The next time I am in line at the store, if there is a young guy behind me looking like a loser, I am going to smack him in the mouth and tell him he took for you!

I always forget to write purchases in my book while paying with a debit card so I use checks (I have carbon copies so I can't misplace or forget).
I have everything written out except for the amount. That takes about the same time as someone who has to slide the card, put in their pin, and then sign the slip.

Last I checked, we are all able to make those choices ourselves.
If you were in that big of a hurry, go through the U-Scan!
Or you could just be a little more patient!
I had a man at the bank yell at me for something similar just a few days ago.
If they did not want you to make deposits at the ATM, you would not be able to.
If companies did not want to take the time to take your check, they wouldn't.
So, the problem lies with you, not them!

They SHOULD have their check almost completely filled out come check out time - you are right their.
But some people can't have an atm card. They spend to much or they can't adapt or what ever.
