It is the rule, not the exception. The overwhelming majority of people worldwide masturbate, and this activity is generally introduced when an adolescent enters his/her teens. So yes, it is completely normal and certainly nothing to fear or be embarrassed about.

Different religions have different reasons for limiting certain personal behavior. Sometimes they think that personal pleasures take you away from doing God's work and take you down a road that leads to other more harmful things. In that light, some think that Masturbation is a bad habit (like smoking or doing drugs) and not a normal and predictable result of growing up. Masturbation is not a habit at all. It is a normal outgrowth of reaching puberty and happens as sex organs mature. Not every teen (or every sex organ) is the same so some will be more stimulated and others less (and teens will masturbate accordingly). Left alone, teens will masturbate without any instruction from others. It is completely natural, and just as God planned it.
Honestly, I believe that God has much better things to do than to send you to hell for touching yourself now and then. As a Catholic, I know that faith and love for God and your fellow humans is the most important thing, not stupid details. So is forgiveness. God wants you to hear your own inner voice, not just follow the rules blindly. That is why he gave us a choice.
It is funny that some people think that god is keeping score, and that your mortal soul is just a single misstep away from eternal damnation, no matter how true your heart is. Remember that God invented humor, and that your friends book is truly a big joke.
Smoking and Drugs are habit forming and a bad Idea. If you want to piss off god, screw up your body that way. Masturbating is not harmful (under most normal circumstances).

The prohibition about masturbation comes from a different mindset.
The problem is that it is a lust induced self-love.
For the boys, it was felt that a man had a finite amount of seed and that it had to go where it would do the most good (in a woman's womb.)
Masturbation is a misuse of commodity.
There is nothing honestly wrong with masturbation.
Considering how strong the sex drive can be, it is far better than having premarital sex.

I believe it is normal for teenagers, and I've heard that it's actually healthy for you, I watch the TV Show "Talk Sex With Sue" and she said it is healthy and normal for teens and women to masterbate. And she's been studying sexual behaviors for years and she's old so I'm sure she knows a lot! Haha.

It's perfectly normal, unless it becomes an unhealthy obsession or you develop some bizarre urge to do it in public. Religious books say a lot of strange things that bear no connection to rational reality.

Sexual urge is normal. But its like an itch. The more you do it the more you will want. The religious books try to take one to a higher platform where one learns to protect himself from these mundane urges.
If you have a higher taste in life, follow religion. However if you care only for eating, sleeping, mating and defending like the amimals do, you can decide what is best for you and go ahead. Religion is for human beings who need to excercise self control with the help of their reasoning capacity.

they bible says it is better to put your seed in a whore than spill it on the ground. but masterbation is very normal and healthy for a teen as long as it doesnt become an obsession forget what that book said.
