My dad bought this dog gizmo for my sister. But my sister moved to my moms and my dad was going to get rid of him so he offered him to a next door neighbor who is fond of him. my dad didn't realize that I grew fond of him and can't stand the thought of getting rid of him. But my neighbor doesn't know the decision we made to keep him. How do I tell her that we're keeping Gizmo without hurting her feelings?

Just tell her what you told us, that you have grown attached to Gizmo and can't let him go. She will probrably be mad, but she'll get over it.

I mean, it's your dog anyway, right? Tell the neighbor that you have become attached to "Gizmo" and you cannot bare to let him go.
If the neighbor likes the dog, then she will understand how you grew to like or love him too.
No big deal, no hurt or hard feelings. How could the neighbor be upset anyway,she never had an opportunity to own him, right?
Suggest to her, that if she want to get a dog, go the shelters and there will be a beautiful puppy/dog sitting right there waiting for her to take it home. She can find her on little "gizmo". :D

Honesty is always the best answer. Since you haven't taken her the dog it's not like your taking something back. Tell her how you feel and if she really feels the way you think she does about the dog she'll know it's best if he's not taken away from the people and the home he is used to.
