Sure. We all do. English, Spanish, French, Italian, German... Those are all tongues, or languages, which is basically the same.

Yes, I do believe that people can speak in tongues today. But I also believe that speaking in tongues is one ability that mankind has taken much too far. First of all, many teach that speaking in tongues is evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit. I have been filled with the Holy Spirit for 38 years; since the day that I was born again. One time when I was in total confusion about this matter, Jesus clearly spoke to me and said, "Calvin, if you ever need to speak in tongues, I will give you the power to do so when the time comes." Just don't get all tied up concerning this matter. The main thing is that you are washed in the blood of Jesus from your sins. Speaking in tongues does not make a person one bit more of a Christian.

In a way, I speak English, Basic, RPG 3, C, C++, some COBOL.

Now some can speak human languages like English, Spanish

Now what you are really asking about will take place in the last days.

Such an Individual will be able to speak to a large and diverse group and each person there will hear the individual in their own language that they grew up with even the language of the town they grew up in.
also the Individual will understand anyone who speaks to them no matter where they are from.

Yes, it happened to me. I am a Catholic but went with a friend to a pentecostal church for just a visit to hear a visiting pastor that is very powerful..During the mass, the visiting pastor asked people to go up for a blessing. I went up there but my friend stayed sitting. I stood to the side to let the congregation members be in the front. The visiting pastor and the pastor from the church came straight to me and asked me if I had ever received a blessing. I said yes and then they started to pray over me. I then started to talk in a strange voice and really didn't know what was happening. I talked and talked and talked until they laid me on the floor. I knew what was happening but couldn't stop it. I was loosing my voice when all of a sudden a strong feeling left my body and I finally stopped. By then, I was sweating and weak. I was helped to my feet and given water to drink. I asked what happened and was told I had spoken in tounges but the only problem was nobody knew what I had said....I am a witness that it does happen. God is my witness that my statement is true...

Yep. I think there are more than one way though. For instance, the Apostles spoke in Tounges to large crowds of people of different nationalities, and they all understood them. People can also pray in known toungues that they have learned - for instance putting latin words of praise into your prayer.

Another type is commonly labelled as babbling. When people speak incoherently. This is a bit different, and is only a part of prayer. "make a joyful noise unto the Lord". Joyful noise is what it is. No one needs to know what it means, it's prayer without words. Like an impromptu canzona composed for God.

Can't find that web reference though.

I believe people can speak in tongues, but, do they? The bible says that this is the least of the gifts and you have to have a translator. I was raised in a Nazarene Church (Holy Rollers) and I never heard anyone speak in tongues. Is it possible yes, does anyone really, I don't know, I would be very skeptical. Some will say 'Ye of little faith" I say, " You can believe something with all your heart and still be wrong". God Bless!!

The gift of Tongues was given to the apostles in order to spread the word of Christ for just a short time, and even then, they were speaking a known language. The gift of tongues was a gift in which a person can speak multiple languages. This spiritual gift ended with the apostles!

So when you hear some saying, "I_ride_honda! I_ride_honda!" or anything of non-sense, they are just emotional and has nothing to do with the spiritual gift of tongues!

There are two different types of tongues spoken of in the Bible. The first one in Acts was when the apostles preached to the crowds, and everyone heard the sermon in his own language.

The second was to the Church in Corinth. The Church members were given this gift to convict non-believers. The message was always one of condemnation. Also, there were certain rules that had to be followed to talk in tongues. Only two, or no more than three people could talk in tongues at any service, and there always had to be interpreters. These rules and not followed in most churches who speak in tongues today.

Reading 1 Corinthians, I believe that the gift of tongues was only in the Corinth Church to convict non-believers 2,000 years ago. It does not exist today, at least not from God. Satan though, always tries to imitate God's miracles.

Yes why would God give that gift to people back in those day's only when he offers the Gift of the Holy Spirit today. It has not changed and started a new format for today's society. He is the same today, yesterday, tomorrow,I have spoke in tongues and also have interpret tongues. God's gift is still the same.

Always could, its available to everyone. Its called channeling. Its the way Spirit has talked to humans for a long time. The Christians became fearfull of the ones who have channeled, and thereby damn it.

Did you know the Catholic Popes do it - Its called excathredral when sitting in the chair of St. Peter.

Did you know thousands and thousands of people do it today.

Did you know many of the Authors of the Bible did it. How do you think they got some of their information.

Please consider calling it channeling "speaking in tongues" has a damnation quality about it

I think most people, especially evangelical types, have missed the boat on what the Bible is really saying or describing with this tongues thing.

To believe you must babble incoherently, no one including yourself understands what you're saying, as outward proof of being in the Holy Spirit, is a charletan's dog & pony show.

At Pentacost in the Book of Acts it clearly tells that foriegners who spoke different languages (Known languages) were now able, "each to hear and understand in their own tongues". People were speaking foriegn languages although they did not know how, but it was a known language, not just babble, or supposedly a language "not of this world"
