ughhhhhhh.... that is pretty weird. Instead of something silly like a dog shower (that the dog won't even enjoy), why don't you buy it a course in puppy training classes? That will benefit you and him, and the puppy will love it because it can interact with other pups while he's there.

When you say "spoil it" I hope you still plan on disciplining it appropriately and training it to be obedient. Otherwise, it will be poorly adjusted and confused. Dogs are not children and it's not going to think "my owner lets me do whatever I want, she's so wonderful, I'm going to be really good!". NOPE! Dogs need to be trained!

Dogs are the best thing ever. When I have pet they aren't a pet but a family member.
But personally, I'd be ticked if someone expected for me to spend money on their dog for a shower. Or even if they said they were having a "shower" but didn't expect a present from me.
Throw a "puppy party"? Sure! Celebrate the new member of your family. No presents expected.
To sum up-
Party: Yes.
Shower: No.

You know, I used to be one of those people that would say "What is the matter with that person, she is freakin nuts" but now, since I have a new puppy and I know the joy I now have... I now need from being a puppy mommy, and knowing that I won't get a bratty smart mouthed teenager at after I raised it--(yes I have an "I'm almost 17" Teenager) I say, hell yeah go for it... Your friends will be supportive.
And who cares if you are silly anyway... It's fun to be silly!!

I think everyone else would be silly for buying you gifts.

I think it is crazy but sweet. but to tell you the truth my dog is my child if I ever would have thought about it then i probably would have done it. A lot of people I know are just a crazy about their dogs as I am though. For christmas my dogs get gifts from my family. I got my dog for my birthday and everyone bought me things for my dog to come home for my birthday for my b-day presents. She got all these cute little pink toys and a crate, etc.

well good luck spoil your baby rotten.

Well, don't throw a dog shower, and don't spoil it rotten, or then it won't learn any dissapline, I'm not saying you won't, but I'll be harder o get it to listen in the future. They are much like humans, but you shouldn't dress it, cause I'm sure the dog would get annoyed (along with some people). But you should throw a party for the dog, to celebrate the new member of your "family", you still can treat it like you son/daughter, that's how I kinda think with it with my cat. (I'm a kid, leave me alone.) And I'm sure it's a big bummer not to have kids, so treat it like one, but like with children, we never spoil them, but we love them, we never hit them, but we disapline them. * ^_^ *

Let me TRY to explain why you should rethink not only the rediculous "DOG-SHOWER" to keep from embarrasing yourself & anyone who may be invitied, but rethink your wanting a puppy to SPOIL!!!!
As with children SPOILING!!!! is not O.K. for them, you or anyone who must be around the "spolied" subject. Spoiling can make dogs aggressive & unpredictable, again for you & anyone around them. These ARE ANIMALS!!!! They are NOT people!!!
Love your puppy, give it praise, play with it, provide it with regular vet care INCLUDING SPAYING or NEUTURING (it makes for a MUCH happier & healthyier animal), provide a warm bed, quality food, clean cool water & plenty of exercise & TRAINING!!!!
BUT DO NOT "SPOIL" your puppy. It is NOT CUTE & it is NOT good for the dog!!!!
Also, be VERY sure you research your dog choices CAREFULLY!!!! Be sure that your lifestyle & your home environment is set up for the dog you choose. A large breed in a city is a BAD mix for SOOOOOOOO may reasons. As I stated earlier, RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!! ALSO, check your local shelters before looking elsewhere. There are a lot of dogs out there who DESPERATELY need a loving home & who would LOVE to have a home with a "Mom" like you.

I don't think so. I have a Pit Bull whom doesn't know she is a dog. She has clothes, a bed and several of her own toys and things. I'm sure you have went to a number of your friends showers and got gifts so why should they not be courteous to your new addition!

No not at all just don't spoil that dog too much ok. But remember it is a animal not human and I am sure you already know that so go give that dog some hugs and kisses just don't make your husband/Fiance/Boyfriend jealous.
