You can shave them but once you do that you're going to have to continue to do that. I have thick sideburns too. I have been shaving them for the last 2-3 years. Mine don't grow back that fast, so it doesn't bother me that much.

First of all, if they are that thick, trim them. Build your self confidence, and don't worry about things like that. There are more drastic terrible things in life besides side burns. Seriously. World hunger, losing half your face in an accident, just be happy with who you are and if your not happy fix the things that make you unhappy. Your entitled to be happy.

Shave or wax them off. Hair is easily removed, so I don't see the problem.

the best thing to do is wax them. waxing damages the roots and causes the hair to grow back sparser. also after you do it so much it will not grow back.
