I am a stay at home mother married for almost two years. I have two young children, the eldest from a previous marriage. I have the ability the experience and education to work, I have previously worked in the medical field but I want to start my own business and spend time with my children. I was financially independent until I had my youngest who is now 18 months old shortly after getting married, I left my job and apartment and moved in with my husband in a new city. My husband works full-time and I am un-employed/ full-time pre-med biology student. I always dreamed of starting my own entertaiment business, I have been taking the steps towards starting it but my husband wants me to work. Should I put my dreams to the side and work? Is it possible to work full-time/ part-time, attend college and spend time with my children and get my business off the ground? Who can I trust with my children after a family friend has tried to molest my daughter? Please I am confused what should I do?

multi-tasking is alright but i am afraid that one of this days, you'll feel burned out. I would suggest that you finish school first and try to look after your kids..is the eldest responsible enough to be left alone with an 18 month old child? Letting a family friend/relative take care of your kids makes me squirm a little too...I just read in Yahoo answers a while back... the boys grandfather molested him...so it would be best if you focus on finishing school and taking care of your kids first. as for your dream of putting up a business, i am all for that..maybe you should study on that more and when you have more time on your hands, you can try setting it up. If you cant wait, maybe you can get a partner that you can trust to set it up for the two of you..But you have to get a lawyer and settle the legalities and sharing in case he/she will try to pull a fast one for you...:) Good Luck and hope everything works out....

Our situations sound somewhat similar. I have a 9 year old son and worked full time to support my husband for two years while he went to school. We just recently had a baby and I refuse to let someone else raise my baby and I really wanted to spend more time with my older child.

I have a goal of opening an alternative spa. That takes time and money, both of which we didn't have that much of. I searched and searched for a JOB to do from home that would allow me to be home and focus on what I wanted. What I ended up getting involved in was Pre-Paid Legal Services. I love the service and it gives me the chance to talk to people, be with my kids and earn money. My first month I made $700.

Granted, if you were interested in joining PPL and my team I would of course be happy! :) BUT, I am simply telling you that if you can find something you like to do that could give you some residual income within a couple of years, then you would have the time AND the money to start your own business and fulfill your dreams. Most companies like that are network marketing but they can have great potential if you work hard and stay focused. There are vitamin, internet geared, natural product companies and many more. I enjoy selling legal plans to people because there are no products to buy, inventory to track, auto shipping to pay for or parties to give. But everyone is different. Most people hear MLM or network marketing and run screaming because lots of companies have given the market a bad name by being pushy, intimidating and some are downright scams.

So anyway, I would suggest finding something you can support and stand behind with a network marketing company, work it hard for a couple of years (while even working a little on your own business) and then be able to relax more and do what you want. Do your research to check the legitimacy of the company and their compensation plans and if there are any quotas to meet to determine if it fits for you.

Good luck.
