You can use the fomulary he used..it should be in one of the books about the type.

Basically silver and salt was used and simply left in a dish by a window..

I wouldn't try to make literal Dauggerotypes. He used boiling mercury in his process, and that stuff is poisonous. You might look up tintypes or ambrotypes.
