Why does my dog keep puking.. duh as a vet.....I mean come on Things like this would send us streight to the doctor... but its a dog so we will ask a stranger instead.... If people really cared dont you think they would go directly to the vet for serious issues.... or if its after hours I know every phone book has an 24 hour vet clinic.... so why ask strangers when you can pick up the phone and find out if it is life threatning or if it can wait till monday....from a PROFESSIONAL

I disagree with one point. People are stupid and lazy with their own health. People die every day from treatable ailments that they think they'll keep an eye on and hope that it goes away, some sort of denial I would think. A treatable cancer goes unchecked until it has metastasized throughout the entire body. Anyway, this attitude unfortunately carries over to pets on a much larger scale. I admittedly watched a dog have two seizures before contacting a vet only to be informed it was kidney failure due to antifreeze poisoning. Being much older and wiser, I would act swifter now if not only to have the animal put down. In conclusion, I would say that this will always be a problem in a pet-driven society. Every one likes the cute puppies and kittens, but fewer can or will develop these feelings into a lifelong commitment that will serve the needs of an aging pet. I mean, first they have to buy the little rascal, then feed it, then vaccinate it (when the budget allows), heartworm prevention, etc. The cuteness gives way to expenses and more interesting things to do with one's time. I've never seen a huddled mass around a wheelchair ooohing and aaaahing over someone's grandparent, have you? This answer isn't at all directed at anyone in particular. It's just the nature of things that most pets will wind up in sorely incapable hands. As far as questions in this forum, I don't know why they're in here. Possibly, it's easier to phrase an issue as a question, rather than to simply beg for sympathy.

in some cases it's probably an issue about money. vet's can be expensive, and unfortunatly people have pets when they really can't afford emergency treatment for them. They may realize the dog needs vet care, but try to get out of it by comming on here and seeking advice.

Also, some problems are not serious enough to seek the vet. all the examples you have listed ARE, but sometimes other problems can be resolved at home and the dog owner may be unexperienced in making that determination.

really it all comes down to lack of knowledge and or experiance on the part of the owner, OR valuing money over the life of the pet which is really sad.

ps. any vet I have ever gone too lists an after hours number for emergancies.

When I ask my questions I already have asked the vet and got the answer I just like to see the crazy things that will show up.

Or to see if someone on here was going thru the similar experience.

You are right. I think a lot of these people put it on here for jokes and i hope for the dogs sake that it is not really happening.

My phonebook does not have a 24 hr vet clinic.

You shouldnt be so judgmental!! at the same time as I agree that the final public of those questions seem stupid to ask once you would possibly want to be attending to a vet, now and again even the vet cant figure a component out and some different person ought to have stumble upon an answer with the aid of way of trial and blunder. I at the moment have a question revealed about my dogs gas problem and my vet cant seem to confirm why!! yet a number of the questions I see revealed the following do scare me, and that i ask your self why they have pets in any respect.

Because people are just plain cheap and lazy!!!!!!!!!! I always love how all these people live in the only town that DOES NOT have a vet and they have to drive 48 hours uphill both ways just to get to the town that has one!!!! And it will do no good because that vet does not see emergencies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure there are not many guys that would walk around with a swollen and painful nut, and ask about it here!! They would be rushing to the doctor!!! But not if it is the dog!!! You just do not spend money on the dog!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is very scary to see all the people that say "my puppy is puking blood, is there a homemade remedy?" YIKES!

Personally, sometimes after I've been to the vet and found out the issue, I still post the question just for feedback on other's experiences. It's possible that the vet can miss things sometimes, and I like to see what other people have found out from their dog.

You know you got a point. Everybody asks these stupid questions that regular people who are NOT vets dont know the answers to. I think so people dont hold their pets on as high a pedistal as we hold ourselves on which is bad beacuse our neglect could lead to the death of the family pet.
