Speech therapy can really help you significantly -- even make your stuttering go away completely. I recommend it! Ask your school counselor or doctor for a referral.

In the meantime, practice what you're going to say ahead of time, and remember, the more often you try, the less nervous you'll be. Asking someone for his/her phone number after a long, nervewracking buildup = terrifying. Asking someone for his/her phone number three times in one evening, just for practice = funny.

Try a speech therapist, it could help. But look at it this way: the last two kings of England had a stutter. You are in good company. Work on your self-esteem. That may help also.

Good luck. But if nothing helps remember, we all have our problems, some are hidden and some are not. Don't worry about it.

I have problems with this sometimes. When I stutter, I look like I'm trying to push an elephant out of my mouth. It's wide open and nothing ... nothing comes out. I just have to stop and start again and hope I didn't come across as too big of a goof. But yes, it only happens when I am nervous for one reason or another.

I use to do this when I was younger. You could go to a speech therapist..but sometimes you may feel to embarrassed to...Most people stutter because they feel like whatever they say is not important enough...which causes anxiety which in turn...causes you to stutter...Try speaking with confidence...take a deep breath, dont let your mind work faster than your tongue...think about what your going to say before you just blurt it out and your left to flounder.... and I KNOW this sounds dumb...but practice talking when your alone...if you want to stop stuttering bad enough ....it really works.

That is okay, I have a friend who does this and it doesn't even bother any of her co-workers or friends. It does bother her, so she is going to a speech therapist and it seems to be helping quite a bit.

Good Luck!
