She was on Heroin and her husband too they got caught and the husband was ordered to got o jail for two years while her to rehab. They didn't want to so they ran off to Mexico. Now that they see how hard life is out there they wanna come back but she doesn't have her birth certificate and the baby is a Mexican citizen because it was born there. My cousins mom is a drug addict the reason why she started in the first place and her dad lives miles from the hospital where she was born and can't make it until who knows when to get her birth certicicate. I want to help but don't know what to do. Maybe if we can get her back to America we can force her to Rehab. Anyone know any advice for me???? Anything I can do for her?

Any US citizen can apply for assistance at the US embassy. Since she has a criminal record, her fingerprints are on file and her identity can be verified. That may take time, but it can be done. I'm not sure being born in Mexico to non-Mexican parents makes her baby a Mexican citizen. Not all countries have the same rules for citizenship. The child is a US citizen (assuming the mother is).

SO whats the problem have her just cross and state that she is a united states citizen. that's all. if they don't believe her they will run a records check on her, and will probably find that she has an arrest warrant outstanding for her. In which case she will not have any trouble entering the U.S That's all she needs. Also if the mother and the Father are both U.S citizens the baby is one too when she cross have her mom or father there to take care of their grandson because she will probably be going to jail

If she has any form of US ID even an old ID she may be able to apply for a social security card. You can mail those forms to her. But if she comes back to the States she is going to jail. Her sentece will probably be more sever than rehab since she ran away. Check to see how many warrants she has. And if she reports to the states to turn herself in they will identify her by her fingerprints. Which is another way to identify a person. But it sucks that she really dosen't have many good options.

She can order a copy of her birth certificate. She can go to an American Embassy for help. They can't keep an American citizen out of America. And if she and the kid's dad are American, the kid should have dual nationality as I understand it, subject to confirming that when 18.

If she was ordered by the court to go to rehab is because they gave her that choince instead of going to jail. Ofcourse her attorney got it to be that choice. She baild her order from court and now if she gets caught coming back, most likely she is going to be thrown in jail. What you should do is contact a U.S immigration attorney in a border city like Tijuana or El Paso and tell them your situation. Good Luck. By the way, I think is worth her husband to do those 2 years and get it over with and move on.

If your sister is really an American citizen, she should contact the American embassy and they will be able to help her. If she was arrested, her fingerprints will be on file. She will probably have to face the music and go to jail, but it's about time she grew up.
