I made fresh salsa and only put one jalepeno pepper in it and it is so spicy I can barley handle it. I tried putting more tomatoes in it but it didn't help. I need to know how i can tone it down some.

Add chopped celery, cucumbers, and lots and lots of jicama sliced in small strips.

Cook it some more. The longer you cook it, the less spicy it will be. Try adding a little sugar if you dont want to recook it or maybe a little vinegar, lemon or lime juice.
Next time, take the seeds out of the pepper before you make the salsa and the heat will be greatly reduced.

quadruple the tomato. I don't think you can unspice something already done. Maybe you could cook it down instead of eating it fresh. When you use jalapeno again, remove the seeds an white membrane, they are the hottest part, and only use 1/4-1/2 of the pepper to start. You can always add more later. The "heat" varies from pepper to pepper. I grew some one year and my husband couldn't eat some they were so hot and yet others (same dirt, same batch of seedlings) were very mild.

did you remove the seeds and the ribs inside the jalepeno??? cause thats where the most heat is....i dont know if you can tone it down, other than eating it with some sour cream.

next time, only use the pepper part of the jalepeno. avoid the seeds and ribs at all cost!!!

A pinch of sugar and lime will do the trick. When you make salsa next time remove the seeds from the Jalapeno, MAKE SURE YOU USE GLOVES, then throw the gloves and wash your hands, do not touch your nose, eyes, or mouth because if you get the juice or oils on your skin and other areas it will burn.

The heat in the jalapeno is usually from the seeds and the whites of the pepper. If you can make sure to cut that out, it might be more mild.

Remove the seeds and 'veins' inside the jalapeno.
If that is still too hot, use only 2/3 of it (the pointy end).
Also, try diceing the pepper extremely small - that way
the hotness is more spread out, and therefore more
manageable. : )

You can puree a cucumber and tame the taste w/o ruining the salsa.

Try letting a fresh cut potato sit in it for a while.

if you are goin to use the salsa as a dip for chips, add cream cheese. it makes salsa mild and more tasty.
