I'm a christian and happy most of the time. I'm also a human being and sad once in awhile. I believe Christ was not happy to have to take on every sin of every person by dying on the cross. He asked God to take this cup (pain) from him because he didn't think he could do it, but, he said "thy will, not my will, be done". God gave him strength. Being a Christian doesn't always = happiness, especially in the shape our world is in today. We have to pray everyday to find the best in ourselves and others. As a Christian I struggle with " thy will, not my will, be done. Our will is very strong, so to humble yourself to Gods will can be hard, and not always make you happy at the on set. It can take time to see his plan and put it into action. As we Christians know, in the end, his plan, his will, is always right. We just have to listen and obey and then we will find true happiness in Heaven with our Lord God and Savior. God Bless!!

It is hard for them to be free when they are preached at with fire, brimstone and damnation lurking behind any joyous act that is not approved in the bible. They teach the ten commandments but they are only the tip of the iceburg. A biblical scholar in Jerusalem had counted 637 throughout the bible, OT and NT. With that kind of weight on their shoulders it is no wonder they fail to see the beauty that thier religion can offer. If thier religious leaders would preach the peace love and brotherhood in the same spirit as Jesus, not turning away anyone because of what they were, and not to criticize anyone for their beliefs then they will be happier.
I am just a witch, I don't have such heavy do's and dont's All I have are 2 essential laws #1 An it harm none do what you will. #2 Love unto all things. Christians can't understand that if you do both you got it covered.

Anybody can be happy, but happiness is a skill I think. I think that many people just don't know the skill. Or they do know what it takes, but fail to take the time and energy to implement the skills (that's often my case).
It is important that we are thinking happiness-producing thoughts, and not those thoughts that are counter-productive and which produce negative feelings.
Could it be that there are negative teachings in your church of some sort? Because I think in many churches, you will find the people rejoicing.

just concentrate your eyes on the Lord and mind little the people around you.if others are unhappy, well, what matters is that you continue your relationship with God. this is if you are also a christian.but if not, well, never mind them.
the christian life is not always laughters and smiles.it's about a journey. there are hardships and sometimes, search for some answers.a quest.sometimes christians fail. all people do. that sometimes make them unhappy.so it's not a monopoly of christians.even non-christians become unhappy sometimes.it's a part of life

on sunday morning, when you are in 'church' with all the 'sad' people, do they look a lot like the folks you were sharing pitchers with down at the dew drop inn on saturday nite? if so, that ain't church, that's the drunk tank! that guy in the ugly blue uniform with all the keys ain't an usher, he's a jailer! church is way across town where the folks are smiling and singing and enjoying another fine sunday morning

Christians are as human as anyone. We all live in the physical world, so we all have various problems in life that can get us down sometimes. Faith is good to have, but it doesn't prevent pain or sadness. That's a part of life. And for some people, it's harder to remember the good things in life, over the bad.

Happiness depends on situations. Christians are called to joy, something much deeper. It doesn't mean we always have a smile on our faces, but we have a 100% confidence that God is God and He is absolutely trustworthy with our lives.
Most Christians aren't feeling very happy these days because they've bought into the false teaching of "me-ism". They think that life is about them. It's not. Life is all about our God. When we focus on ourselves, we are bound to be unhappy. When we focus on God, there will be joy.
