I have a year old male boston terrier and his name is Bo. Well he actually has this long drawn out registered name but who cares, we just call him Bo. We got him for a pet not to breed.
Anyway..........my poor little boy is at the doggie hospital as we speak getting fixed. Is this going to help him stop being so hyper? I know it does on alot of dogs but have been told that it is not going to help with a boston terrier. Anyone know for sure? Anyone with experience with boston terriers?
Also how do I get him to stop chewing up shoes and my little girls toys?

We don't leave things down, my dog gets on the dining room chairs to get shoes that we put up there and he gets on my little girls table and takes her toys to chew on. And I tell him no and give him his own toys...Not working Im afraid.

neutering does not alter behavior, except that males neutered at a young age will not "hike", or mark their territory, on everything. To get him to stop chewing on everything i would first off all make sure he does not have easy access to everything that he likes chewing on. Then whenever you catch him chewing on something he is not allowed to, take the object away and say "no chew" in a stern voice. Then give him something he is allowed to chew on, such as a dog toy or rawhide bone, as he chews on it praise him and tell him he's a good boy. Never give him old shoes or used children's toy to play with. Doing so will only confuse him and make him think it is okay for him to chew on even the newer shoes and toys.

Fixing a dog will calm him down some...but after all her still is a puppy. Terriers of any breed are hyper per say. They are small attention driving animals. As far as your dog using your shoes and stuff for toys....BUY some doggie toys. Let him know that these are his. If he get your shoes Loudly say NO and take it from him them replace it with a toy that is his. this will teach him what is his.
No with that said....You must also train yourself too. Pick up after yourself. Don't leave your stuff out where he can get them. This is as much your fault as his. Dogs chew things some more than others. Its your responsibility to keep small toys and such out of the dogs reach not for toy preservation but also for the dogs safety. what can choke a small child is just as bad for a dog.
Good toys for dogs....ANYTHING made of hard rubber. KONGS, Solid balls, Tennis balls, racket balls, even some tug toys. I do not recommend and toy with rope or string. They are a hazard to a dog if left alone. A dog can rip out the strings and swallow them and once ion their intestines, they can cut, well saw small holes in the intestines.

People say that it calms them down, but both B.T.s that I've had seemed to resume their normal level of craziness once the seditive wore off. As a matter of fact, the jumping made the stitches come apart. I love Boston Terriers. I think they are wonderful dogs. However, the first year was very trying for us both times. They learn very well, but you will have to set up boundaries. We had a pillow for our dog and that was the first thing we taught her. Stay on the pillow, go to the pillow. It seems restrictive, but they aren't getting into trouble and you can give them things to chew on that you want them to chew on. Maybe a leash attached to a chair leg within reach to the pillow. After a while, you can abandon the leash and they can have more freedom. You can always send them to their pillow. You have to catch them chewing on something in order to tell them "no" and then give them some appropriate to chew on. By the way, my first B.T. was named Agnes and our current one is named Juanita (and she lives with a Pug named Peggy - pugs are very different from Boston Terriers.) Good luck with your dog. You picked a good one.

Sorry, your dogs personality will not change from being neutered. If he is a hyper, bad little dog who eats things he shouldn't, he needs obedience training to fix that.
Neutering will only affect behaviors caused by hormones.

I've had a lot of experience with dogs before and after neutering. In my experience, dogs settle downa bit, as they are not constantly looking for love. They are more interested in you, their home and family, since they won't have the urge to breed.
